I've watched the TV series... the story isn't the same, right?

Mike I agree with Nathan's comments. I read A Study in Scarlet after watching Sherlock's "A Study in Pink". Different story with some common elements. I esâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðI agree with Nathan's comments. I watched A Study in Pink and loved the scene where Sherlock determines a person's alcoholism from a cell phone. A friend of mine mentioned that that happens in an original Sherlock book but with a pocket watch or something. Is that true? Does it happen in A Study in Scarlet or in a different Sherlock story?

Hailey A pocket watch Harry gave Watson first appears in A Study In Scarlet, but Holmes only makes deductions in the second novel, A Sign of the Four.

I have two problems with the story. One; why didnt Jefferson change his name when he was closing down on his prey while in London. He changed his name when going back to Salt Lake City and it beats me why he didnt do the same now. Two; the ad for the lost ring includes the Baker Street adress. So it should def "ring a bell" for Jefferson when he was asked by one of the street boys to go there. Anyone can explain?
