This is an outstanding book that one can have close at hand to read time and time again. It deals with what makes some people successful and others not. A Message to Garcia is one of the greatest best-selling inspirational essays written in 1899 by Elbert Hubbard. It has been made into two motion pictures.
There are some people who come hell or high water will get it done. Then there others who have excuses of why it cannot be done. You have to have courage, tenacity and the will to win. The Marine Corps has always had that and that is why 1CA Message to Garcia 1D has been told to every Marine Corps class for over 100 years.
"A Message to Garcia" stresses the importance of those who can be trusted to get the job done when time is short and the stakes are high. It teaches that extraordinary opportunities come to those who develop the right attitudes, habits, and instincts to accomplish missions quickly and efficiently, with minimum oversight.
Therefore it is a booklet that you should have close to you to read before going to sleep after saying your prayers. It is also a great bit of information to start the day when you have been struggling with a problem that has you in a quagmire of in action. In all problems the problem lies in getting started. Many people never do so they fail before they even get started.
So when the question or order come to get "A Message to Garcia" you will not hesitate or cloud the issues with idiotic questions or excuses because you will be well on your way to deliver the message. The question now is can you do it? Yes, the future lies in your hands!
