Finley shares everything with her best friend ... but she didn't expect to share her husband.
The weekend starts with a celebration of life – the summer residents of picture-perfect Cottage Point coming together to send Finley’s dearly departed pony off to her new home in the great apple orchard in the sky.
After all, the cottagers are one big happy family – full of love and support for each another.
Or, at least that’s what Finley thinks until she gets up for a late-night drink of water and discovers lust has won out over loyalty when it comes to her best friend and her husband.
What kind of people would betray her like this? It’s the first thing that fills her head, but Finley quickly finds herself asking a tougher question – what kind of woman is she? More importantly, what kind of woman does she want to be?
Begin Again was such a good short story by Tudor Robins. I've been slowly going through her bibliography this year after finding the first in the island series and I just love her way of writing. This book was a perfect little snippet of all the reasons I love her as an author. She writes cozy yet real world characters who must navigate life's curveballs with a perfect dash of horses. Perfect for this little horse girl trapped in an adult horse woman's life ❤
BEGIN AGAIN : A COTTAGE POINT STORY - BY TUDOR ROBINS = 42 PAGES
I HAVE ALWAYS REALLY LOVED HORSES. I BEGGED MY PARENTS FOR ONE THROUGH MY CHILDHOOD, BUT WE COULDN'T AFFORD ONE, NOR DID WE HAVE A PLACE TO KEEP ONE. SO I COULD REALLY RELATE TO THIS STORY. I COULD DEFINITELY RELATE TO A CHEATING HUSBAND, BUT I WAS NOT AS BRAVE AS FINLEY WAS. I TOTALLY ENJOYED THIS STORY. I FINISHED READING THIS E-BOOK ON 3/26/2024.
This is a short novella of a mother and horse lover, finding out hard truths and learning to let go of what no longer brings joy. We see some surprises, and a great deal of dignity. And love. Not least, love for a young chestnut filly. This is really well written, I was holding that lead rope and hearing the filly graze. Recommended for adult readers or mature teens. I read an e-copy. This is an unbiased review.
This was a really sweet quick read with the perfect dash of horses and just a hint of potential romance. I love a meet-cute/origin story so this worked for me even though we don't really see the new romance develop, we get to see Finley's story and her opening up to the potential by shedding the things in her life that are not working and finding her own strength.
The little horsey bits were perfect and realistic (a huge plus for me, mess up horse stuff in books and I'll come for you!) I'll defintiely be checking out more by this author!
