Book two of Martin's Ice and Fire series picks up immediately where 'A Game of Thrones' leaves off without stopping to catch its breath. I'm guessing the entire series will be this way--really one loooong story woven from the multicolored and fascinating threads of many little stories, chopped off and bound every thousand pages or so. I didn't find 'A Clash of Kings' quite as obsessively gripping as the first book, but I think that is due to an increase in familiarity with the style and setting,

An excellent continuation of the first book and transition into the third, which I'll be starting very soon. Sometimes it seems like I just read a bunch of mediocre, everyday garbage, waiting for something to really grab me - this series has, and there's a lot of material to keep me busy for a while. Highly recommended.
