It's by far my favorite book. It's so different and everything is easy to envision. A lot of twists and turns and there's always something awesome happening! Using runes, blades that can heal, demons and creatures hiding right in front of our eyes, and the use of the Nephilim is so unique. I've never read so much action in a book. My heart was racing the whole time I read it, and I could barely put it down. It's full of great humor, too - I was cracking up most of the time. The dialogue is realistic and witty, and the characters are three-dimensional and lovable. Especially Jace, I love him. He's so hilarious. Not to mention amazing. :) (Although I'm a strong believer of Clary and Simon as a couple!)

The plot is great, with tons of unexpected twists. How This is so good! It's so thrilling and suspenseful and action-packed. The plot is great, with tons of unexpected twists. However, I got annoyed with it a lot. Sometimes it was too fast-paced, to the point where it was confusing - the author just threw something at us without explaining it, and Clary just seemed to understand it at once (for example, I still don't get exactly what the Clave or Covenant are; they never actually explained those). Also, some plot twists were so extreme that they were unbelievable, and sometimes I felt like there were too many. When there's too many crazy things happening, it stops affecting you (you just feel numb), and you start getting fed up with it.

Another thing: sometimes it got really annoying when things kept switching around, like the author was changing her mind or something. I.e.: "Clary's father was a Shadowhunter. No, he wasn't. Her mother was a Shadowhunter instead. Clary's father is dead. No, he's alive. Clary's father is Valentine. Clary's brother is dead. Actually, he's not." It gave me headaches, and it got to the point where I didn't know what the truth was anymore, or who was lying and who wasn't. I'm still not sure.

And then, there's the ending. 0_o Umm ... so now Jace and Clary are siblings?!? Eew. Incest! Lol. But, seriously, that's kind of disturbing. Although, I suppose, that's a good thing, because now Clary can be with Simon, like I've wanted since page one ... but still. It's just - whoa. Kind of too much.

What frustrates me is, Jace doesn't act at all like himself at the end, at Renwick's. He totally believes Valentine's lies, which is not like him at all ... plus, he acts so weak and timid, which is way out of character for him.

And I don't get how Valentine was able to pretend he was Michael Wayland when he doesn't look anything like him. How could he fool everyone? Are people really that stupid? How did Jace not realize his father wasn't Michael, or remember that he used to live with Jocelyn and Valentine when he was little?

Whatever. It's still a really good book. I can't wait to read the next one! Even if I didn't like the ending ... *sigh* ...more

Where to begin? I loved it all. First off, I'd like to say that Jace is awesome. He is witty, sarcastic, and a very, very lovable character. Okay enough about Jace and his awesomness. City of Bones is amazing and it's fast paced, filled with action, all the characters kicked butt and were very well developed.
