It reminded me of Dumplin' (which was written after this one) except with a male MC. It's a little hard, at first, to feel for a dude who's rich and popular and good looking no matter what he does. But Liam is also a little bit slow-witted and deeply wounded from some really hard parental stuff. I may or may not have teared up once. Or twice. Ok. I did.

Note: There's a scene with a therapist that is probably one of the best in YA I've read in a while.

The main girl is doing that fall in love with the only boy you've ever talked to thing, which can totally get annoying, but I. don't. even. care.

The story and the characters might push me to check out part two when it comes out, but I also feel ok with letting it go. Not everything needs a sequel, y'all.

The disease? He's a vampire. Which actually turns out to be a great way to get him off his ass and back into his life. Oh. And he's keeping it on the DL. So obviously, people start to find out. Mostly good people. Good luck, Joe.
