This is the third book I read from this awesome pair of writers and I loved it. Although I am currently reading The Kraken series I wanted something shorter, cute and steamy and this was it. Perfect for an afternoon when I want to forget about school, work and other real world obligations and just read a nice story. The one thing I'd say is that her story with her ex husband hit a bit too close to home, but it was handled so well, it was fine....more

At first, I wasn't into it. Then it grew on me. And then it ended and my blood boils. Let me explain (no, I am not taking this phrase from a great YouTube channel).
We all know the story, girl finds herself trapped or belonging to guy, they spend time together and boom! there's love in the air. This particular one follows Aria, the daughter or a rebel leader and Braith the prince of the vampires. They took over the world and the rebels want their freedom. When they are caught they either become blood slaves or are drained for future use. Even if it wasn't part of the sinopsis we'd all know Aria ends up being a bloodslave to this much feared prince. This part wasn't particularly interesting to me.
What was interesting was to see their relationship develop, avoiding spoilers, what I loved about it was: - it's not super insta-love you actually see them interacting and growing on each other (however, the span of time isn't that big, so I can't say it's not insta-love at all). - there's no force, rape, or anything of the like. Some of these books have at least one instance of force where guy shows his dominion over girl, I didn't see it here. There was one scene that could maybe go into that category, but it wasn't sexual, it wasn't physical and it didn't feel like that (or maybe I am too lenient because I liked this part of the book). - the characters aren't as flat as they could be, given the genre and the size of the book.
Then came the ending. I am actually very much intrigued by the world being woven here. And by the characters. And want to know what happens next. BUT... why on Earth did we get that ending? It felt like 180掳 degree twist that didn't correspond with anything else in the book. I feel it was unnecessary and it will force some drama that doesn't need to be there. (view spoiler)[why would he assume she manipulated him and left him and become cruel and heartless when he knows that his bro wanted to "rescue" her? The fact that this is his only conclusion feels forced because he has no reason to believe she'd just leave like that. And shouldn't the blood bond help him realize she didn't just up and leave? Does it only work as a gps to find the person you are bonded to then? I just don't see it. (hide spoiler)]
All in all it wasn't a very bad book and I enjoyed it and hope to continue the series at some point. Since I got this one for free on Amazon but the rest aren't, it may take a while till I buy the next one. If you like the genre and want a quick read, this may be the book for you....more

Although I have become a somewhat avid reader of paranormal romances, I'd never ventured into the whole humanoid aliens terrain. This was a great introduction! I definitely want to read more from this authors, everytime I thought the story would go one clich茅d way, it went another and it made the story enjoyable and filled with far less drama than I was expecting. ...more

So the setting is Lobo Norte (view spoiler)[(which I am sure is some sort of magical town, but it's not explicitly said, so I don't know) (hide spoiler)] and our protagonist is a scarred stripper. So far so good. When the bikers show up there's that insta love I've come to hate, but, at least they don't consummate immediately and they protect each other first. Props there, but seriously, they don't even know their full names by the end of the book. Aside from the main story, (view spoiler)[I thought I got the world she lived in, biker gangs, middle of nowhere town, whores, motels, money and drugs. Great! When Cooper transforms, she's shocked and afraid because she didn't know he was a werewolf. That makes sense. Now, when she finds out the needles are incubus, she's like "oooh those needles, yeah, the incubus guys, hate them". When she's told the whores are half succubus, that makes sense too. It surprised me. I hadn't seen any clues that all creatures of the night were real in her world, or that she knew of them. They just showed up, and she had her history with them and I was baffled. Maybe it's me, but I feel like there's something missing that would help me make sense of this world Ofelia lives in. (hide spoiler)] To finish, I just have to admire the authors ability to put me in the story. Her descriptions of the smells, the sweat, even the bikes oil were on point for the most part and I got transported to Lobo Norte and that bar. That doesn't mean I found the filthyness sexy, but I was there, and I liked the immersion....more
