Engaging with the content in Disrupt With Impact illuminates pathways to answering these types of questions, tangibly. It doesn't necessarily ANSWER the question "what should you do right now", but if a book claims to be able to tell you that, you probably shouldn't be reading it.

Three things about Disrupt With Impact stand out:
1. The breadth of topics (significant) is matched by the depth of examples, case studies, and actually usable frameworks.
2. The topics themselves are incredibly relevant, both in terms of their potential impact on the future, but also in how you can approach the topics themselves. e.g. The book covers AI (of course), climate (of course), but also more esoteric / less common topics, including Eastern Philosophy & other ontology.
3. The author has demonstrated he knows what he's talking about.

If you have questions about the future, this book probably holds the key to how to approach answering them.]]>

As a relatively young person, I have a variety of questions about the future. Many of these questions are rapidly becoming fairly pressing, given the compounding progress of exponential technologies and shifting societal conditions. For example, "Given what the world could look like in 5 - 10 years, what's worth investing my time in today?"

I particularly appreciate the nuanced and comprehensive view of climate / energy transition as an investment theme and business opportunity. The book doesn't water down or overblow the issue of climate change, but presents it in a compelling way to inspire & motivate, while also being critical of harmful efforts (like greenwashing).

If you're someone who is thinking about starting a business in 2023 or beyond, or if you're someone who wants to more fully comprehend the implications of systemic disruption on our social & business ecosystems, this is the book for you.]]>

Volume IV is the largest book in the series, and for good reason - it packs in an insane amount of information related to running a business (or being an investor) during times of systemic disruption (which is now). Topics of interest include anticipatory governance, energy transition, space (the financial frontier), Asia, Africa, and design fiction (for which there is a workbook & extensive case study example).

Volume III is shorter than Volumes I and II in terms of strict page count, but don't think that makes the book any less impactful. From considering literal existence on a philosophical level to how human longevity, education systems, and work itself could change the shape of the future, Beta Your Life gave me the tools I needed to consider my life differently than I ever had before. It's not really a "self-help book" or a career guide but it does help you think about these topics very directly & in a different context than what you'd typically see (the futures-oriented lens (deep uncertainty in this technological & exponential age) is particularly interesting for me). Like, how DO you stay relevant in an age of constant disruption? How do you do that? No book will ever be able to answer that extremely personal question directly, but this one will help you answer it for yourself. Or at least, it got me on the road to doing so.

<![CDATA[The Definitive Guide to Thriving on Disruption: Volume II - Essential Frameworks for Disruption and Uncertainty]]> 74045557
Through our renowned AAA Framework, you’ll discover accessible tools and practical applications to build Antifragile foundations, develop the capabilities to be Anticipatory, and use emergent and strategic Agility to make effective decisions, impactful investments, and drive true innovation.

This Volume II, “Essential Frameworks for Disruption and Uncertainty”, includes a valuable reference workbook used by professional futurists, showing readers how to use practitioner Futures Frameworks & Foresight Fundamentals to imagine and create desired futures.

As change is certain and omnipresent, we must also learn to thrive by mastering the language of disruption through the 6 i’s frameworks: Intuition, Inspiration, Imagination, Improvisation, Invention, Impossible.

Dozens of contributors across different fields and regions developed real-world case studies and field-ready toolkits, putting these 6 i’s into practice. The chapter on Zen Buddhism helps you interpret our constantly changing world through Eastern philosophy. A focus on Israel reveals how this tiny country builds a system where failure is part of achieving the impossible. In the final application of the 6 i’s, Science Fiction becomes a toolkit for imagination and innovation.

Together, the actionable insights, frameworks, and workbook from Volume II ensure that you’ll go beyond resilience or adaptability to actually thrive on disruption and uncertainty.

Roger Spitz and Lidia Zuin draw on decades of insights from advising entrepreneurs, CEOs, boards, and shareholders in Silicon Valley and globally on evaluating their companies, competitiveness, strategic investments, and disruptions ahead. A foresight strategist, investor, and writer, Roger’s expertise lies at the intersection of futures studies and sustainable value creation building on his experience leading global investment banking and venture capital businesses. After reading this book, I even find myself thinking in terms of the frameworks: "How can I make this project more antifragile? How can I act with Agility? Am I tangibly using my Agency, or am I letting my life pass me by? Am I imagining new realities? Am I trying to achieve the Impossible?" These thoughts regularly cross my mind - and they could for you as well.]]>

There are two primary frameworks introduced in Volume II. You'll find the AAA Framework (Antifragility, Anticipatory, Agility), augmented with Agency and Alignment to create "Being AAA+", as well as the 6 i's Framework (Intuition, Inspiration, Imagination, Improvisation, Invention, Impossible). While these might appear as no more than two sets of alliterative letters, the extensive explanations and applications are where this book shines. It's more than 500 pages of information, absolutely packed to the brim with conceptual and practical (literally usable) frameworks. There are entire chapters devoted to explaining the key insights and takeaways from these frameworks, which makes it easy to apply them to your life and projects.

Am I tangibly using my Agency, or am I letting my life pass me by? Am I imagining new realities? Am I trying to achieve the Impossible?" "The book will help readers become 'Response-able'... getting out of the victim mindset and offering more agency over how to prepare for and respond to disruption."

"Roger Spitz and Lidia Zuin take us on a ride to find out how we can confront change, by deconstructing disruption to make the process not only easy but exciting and hopeful."

"This book should be required reading... It is truly one for the ages."

This is some of the praise that "Reframing and Navigating Disruption," the first standalone Volume of The Definitive Guide to Thriving on Disruption, has received from thought leaders.

More than a book, this work is a field guide for businesses and individuals alike to navigate change; a compass; a system of content, resources, and ideas on how to stay relevant and capture opportunities in our rapidly changing world.

The book lays the foundations to make sense of our increasingly complex, nonlinear, and unpredictable world, where disruption is no longer merely a single or recurring event, but a steady state, expanding its impact.

To flourish, we must understand the velocity, trajectory, and magnitude of the drivers of change, whether technological or otherwise. After examining the constants and drivers of disruption, we learn to rewire our mindset by casting assumptions aside and anticipate inflection points by thinking like a futurist. The book also explores the implications and opportunities arising from today's paradigm shifts, emerging technologies, AI, the "internet of existence," the energy transition, and climate.

If you're looking for a book to cover both the basics and in-depth details on disruption, futures studies, information, AI, tech, the environment, even time itself - this book is it. It's written very accessibly; you don't need to wear a technical hat to understand what's going on here, and there's no useless fluff around the messages. The authors spell out implications with case studies / examples in essentially every chapter - but it's easy then to take their tools and apply the lessons learned to your own ideas.
