Описания и рассуждения было интересно читать, иногда хотелось аплодировать стоя) Очень красиво и поэтично, оригинальный диалог с читателем, тонкая ирония, юмор и все то, за что мы любим английскую литературу.
Для меня удовольствие испортили персонажи. Фаулз как-то всегда умудряется сделать их сложными и многогранными, но неприятными. Я за них совсем не переживала, все эти драмы и решающие сцены меня не трогали, и с кем будет в итоге Чарльз мне было совершенно все равно.

Эта книга должна помогать больным депрессией. Я не о нормальной грусти, а именно о диагнозе: когда человека засосал водоворот тревожности и безысходности. Не потому, что она какая-то очень позитивная или жизнеутверждающая: просто это самая тактильная книга из всех, что я читала. Она вся об ощущениях, о повседневных мелочах, которых мы не замечаем, о детском восприятии мира и всем том, о чем человек забывает думать, когда он сосредоточен на плохом. Все передано в настоящем времени и от первого лица, у главного героя нет имени (или я пропустила?), и рассказчик полностью с ним сливается. Интересный эффект: чтение становится максимально "тактильным".
Я обязательно перечитаю ее, когда начну погрязать в депрессии, но ИМХО, людям в хорошем психологическом состоянии нет особого смысла ее читать. Разве что любителям интересных литературных извращений))

A beautiful fairytale where nothing is what it is, but every emotion is sincere and genuine. This book deeply touched my soul. And yet... As for my humble opinion, if we want to deserve piece, then before burying the giant we must fight it and we must defeat it. Otherwise, the flowers can never grow on the poisoned ground. And stuff. :D
