Здесь игра с ненадежным рассказчиком настолько тонка и шедевральна, что я даже не знаю, какими словами это описать) Все персонажи цельные, сложные и интересные, и говорят совершенно искренне, но у нас все равно есть повод не верить до конца каждому из них. А поскольку присутствие автора здесь нулевое, читателю остается самому выбирать, что обо всем этом думать. В итоге книга оставляет много вопросов, но от этого только выигрывает: как будто Ширли Джексон не хочет раскрывать все тайны, которые могли бы на миллиметр сместить идеально настроенный фокус. Обязательно буду перечитывать!

Первых ~350 страниц - это такой, если можно так выразиться, полубредовый гиперреализм. Стиль необыкновенный, немного похож разве что на Санаева. Книга оккупирует все органы чувств, передает даже какие-то утонченные ощущения героев, сложные состояния, которые описаны не столько словами, сколько формой предложений, абзацев, особой последовательностью слов и мыслей. Если бы меня оторвали, я даже могла бы и не сразу вспомнить, что я сейчас на диване, читаю книгу) Особенно этот эффект меня впечатлил в той главе, где герой ребенок. Вот стоит прочитать только эту главу, чтоб еще раз побыть ребенком) Это и смешно, и грустно, и даже слишком реально.

А вот последних страниц 50... Это - да)) Этого я не ожидала) И пытаться подсмотреть в конец тут не поможет, потому что только прочитав всю книгу можно попытаться сложить пазл.
