ALEXIS
Money has always been an issue, and if I want to stay enrolled, I need tuition money fast. The school's Cute Couples Contest can be my saving grace--whichever couple is voted most swoon-worthy by Valentine's Day is offered a tuition-free year. But my only option is the one person I hoped to steer clear of. Blake Taylor is rich, cocky, and...flirting with me?

Ungodly tall and built like a house, Blake could keep me safe from the person stalking me. But with every touch and stolen glance I wonder if my heart needs protection, too.

BLAKE
As Brookside U's star hockey player I only want one to make captain and look hot doing it. So when my current captain asks me for a favor in exchange for a good word to our coach, I don't have to think twice.

The favor? Fake dating his sister, Alexis—the girl I've been crushing on for three years but who's never given me the time of day. This was supposed to be a simple quid-pro-quo, but the more time I spend with her the harder it gets not to fall for her completely. With only one shot at her heart and five months to do it, I have to prove to Alexis that I can be the one...or risk losing her forever.]]>

He is so adorable, talking the initiative to be aware and constantly thinking about her fibromyalgia after he found out about it. The way he stood up for her was swoon worthy.

Honestly, it was a great book. The character growth wasn’t spread out so much as mainly concentrated after a significant event but it was still really well done.

For both Blake and Alexis. Alexis learning to open up was so well written. It was wonderful.

The reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because I felt like there were several moments that were a little too passive for me. There were moments that seemed to drag on its voice. There was no anything making these moments fun to read through. I know sometimes books need these moments to move the story along, much like world building in fantasy novels but I just didn’t like the way this particular book did it. ]]>

Leo Vega’s love life has been on life support since long before the gunshot wound that put him on leave from the fire department. Now, a year after his injury, he’s finally able to return to work, but he’s no closer to fixing things with Sofi, his sister’s best friend and the woman he’s had a secret on-again, off-again relationship with for years. Sofi is still reeling from the revelation that her best friend lied to her years ago, setting her life on a course she’s resented ever since. She’s done with the Vega family, and that includes Leo, who has always prioritized his tight-knit clan over their relationship. She’s moving on with her life, but then circumstances beyond their control push Sofi and Leo into a tense roommate situation. It’s almost impossible to move on with someone new when Leo is there, reminding her what they had, every day.

When his great-granddaughter Rosie tips Papo Vega off about what’s been going on between Leo and Sofi, he’s on the case, with reinforcements. Working behind the scenes alongside Sofi’s mom, he’s determined to help these two stubborn lovebirds end up where they belong—together.]]>

It was funny most of the time, serious when it needed to be, lovable when the mood struck it and culturally resonant all the time.

The way Cana wrote the family ties and the differences in each family was phenomenal. The language used was great and I kept saying certain things the way I remembered my family members saying them. Now I’m not Puerto Rican but a lot of my friends are so I’ve been brought in to their celebrations and vivacity.

Sleeping With The Frenemy showcased all of that and more. Sofi was pretty relatable and quite frankly, I completely understood her. Leo was also pretty relatable and the chemistry between the two of them was scorching.

There was a, necessary, third act breakup which brought the rating down a little for me but other than that, I enjoyed the book. Have you had a chance to read it yet? ]]>

A Cruel Thirst 60290692 A fledgling vampire and a headstrong vampire huntress must work together--against their better judgment—to rid the world of monsters in this irresistible romantic fantasy.

Carolina Fuentes has always wanted to join her family in hunting down the bloodthirsty monsters that plague her pueblo. But these days, her father wants her out of town with a husband of his choosing. That’s not happening. Carolina plans to show everyone that she’d make a better vampire slayer than wife. Lalo Villalobos doesn’t act on impulses. As the eldest of two, his duties were to carry on the family business, marry, and have children. But then he is turned into a sediento and must flee the city, taking lives as he goes north, where he believes the first vampire was made. Surely, the pueblo there will have the answers to reverse this curse or end sedientos altogether. Another unexpected turn? Lalo runs right into a beautiful young woman who’d gladly stake him.

Fortunately, mostly for him, they share a common enemy. They can stop these evil beasts. Together. And if along the way, Lalo and Fernanda discover what it is to truly live and love, then they’ll have won anyway.]]>

After I got over it though, the story line captivated me. Vampires are one of my favorite myths. Twilight had me in a choke hold and Vampire Academy is still one of my favorite series. The song "Novels about Vampires" by Candi Carpenter is one of my favorite songs of the last few years. Completely serious.

So this book called to me from the get go. It was fun and funny and emotional and was just so much fun to read. The emotions that were felt during this read were at one point overwhelming. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Carolina and Lalo were so cute and relatable. Carolina just wanted to be taken seriously and the way she grew throughout the story was amazing. She kept being confronted by situations that would force her to reflect on herself and her past actions and she would immediately understand, for the most part. That was low-key one of the only parts of the book that were a little unbelievable. It was beautiful to see though.

Lalo was so awkward and adorable, my heart couldn't take it. He just wanted to protect his sister and make sure that his parents didn't die in vain. He was literally every older sibling ever. He was so bookish, I immediately identified with him. The chemistry between the two of them was explosive from the start. It was a slow burn enemies to lovers but it was hot when it got going. It was innocent enough to still be considered YA but I would venture to suggest maybe a little bit of an older YA than you would think. Only because, while there was no graphic descriptions of any romantic moments besides how their kisses made them feel, it is pretty detailed about that.

The scenery was so descriptive and captivating. I felt the brambles and the heat from the fire. The little bit of Mexican culture sprinkled throughout was also awesome. The descriptions of papel picado were great and I just genuinely loved the story as a whole.

10 out of 10 would recommend.]]>

<![CDATA[A Not So Meet Cute (Cane Brothers, #1)]]> 209253367 From USA Today bestselling author of The Highland Fling comes a brand new romantic comedy about a desperate billionaire seeking to find a ´Úľ±˛ą˛Ôł¦Ă©e. This modern day take on Pretty Woman is brilliantly clever and hilariously page-turning.

How did you two meet?

The quintessential question asked to every couple. And the answer is usually some bubbly, lovey dovey tale of being struck in the bum by Cupid’s arrow.

My meet cute (well not so meet cute) is slightly different. I was trolling a wealthy neighborhood in Beverly Hills, searching for someone to take me as their bride, you know, to make my arch nemesis jealous who consequently just fired me.

He was stomping around the block like some sort of gorgeous ogre, mumbling about a business deal gone wrong and attempting to finagle his way out of it.

And that's when we bumped into each other.
There were no sparks.
Not even a hint of blossoming love.

But next thing I knew, I was scarfing down free chips and guac, listening to this man lay out all of his problems which led to his big ask . . . he wanted me to be his Vivian Ward, you know, from Pretty Woman--minus the frisky behavior.

We're talking about living in a mansion, intimate double dates, and pretending we were head over heels in love . . . and engaged. Can you imagine?

The absolute audacity.

But people do crazy things when they’re desperate. And I reeked of desperation. So, I struck up a deal.

My one big mistake, though . . . big . . . HUGE? I accidentally fell for the incomparable Huxley Cane.]]>

I already had perfectly good holiday plans, like glaring at walls and staring moodily into distant horizons because my hockey season is officially down the drain.

And she’s as off-limits as it gets, but she has no car, no money, no job, and no place to stay.

So I’ll let her crash with me for the holidays. With my teammates and her brother already over for the holidays, I'm sure we'll barely notice her.

After all, how much trouble can one relentlessly cheerful little woman cause?

Plenty.

Usually, I'm the last guy on the team women try to warm up to, but she's not put off by my icy moods.

I’ll wind up bending one rule after another because I can’t seem to say “no” to her.

Taking her shopping for new underwear (don’t ask).
Doting on her like a lovesick puppy when she twists her ankle.
Sharing steamy glances when my teammates and her brother aren’t looking…

My teammates can't know how much she tempts me. Her brother certainly can't know the things I'm imagining doing to her.

We’ll both keep pretending we’re just having fun, even when she winds up sharing my bed in secret. We both agree it’s harmless. Just casual.

But when her old life comes calling, will I keep pretending, or will I put it all on the line?]]>

<![CDATA[Cruel Seduction (Dark Olympus, #5)]]> 63065383
And the one man I swore by all Olympus I would destroy.

Aphrodite has never flinched at getting her perfectly manicured hands dirty, and she's not about to start now—even if that means marrying Olympus's enemy number one, the new Hephaestus. She has a wicked plan to keep her deadly new husband off-balance, seducing the one person he seems to care about most in this world: Pandora, a woman as beautiful as she is sweet.

Two can play the seduction game, however, and Hephaestus is all too happy to put his new wife in her place. Her ex, Adonis, seems like he'll do the trick. It doesn't hurt that he's gorgeous in the way of fallen angels, either.

The only problem with using seduction as a weapon? Hearts are all too quick to get involved. With Hephaestus and Aphrodite trading venomous strikes that feel a whole lot like foreplay, lines become blurred and emotions entangled. But a broken heart may be the least of their worries. With unrest in Olympus reaching new heights, these bedroom games may have deadly consequences for themselves, their city, and everyone they've come to love.]]>

I was supposed to be taking the summer off from dating. . . and flirting. . . and men in general. A cleanse. It sounded great in theory. But theory went out the window when my own personal kryptonite sat on the barstool next to mine.

Six feet, five inches of stacked muscle and chiseled features, he exuded a cocky confidence that was hard to miss and even harder to resist. This man was delectable. Like a decadent piece of chocolate cake, tempting me to indulge.

And that was before I knew how he tasted.

The rules were simple:
One night.
No names.
No strings.

Until my handsome stranger turned out to be the hot-as-sin star forward for the Philadelphia Revolution hockey team. A single dad with two adorable kids who tug at my heart strings, and a family almost as obnoxious as my own.

But Cross Wilder isn’t looking for a hookup.
And I’m not looking for a fairytale.
The question is. . . do I have a choice?]]>

<![CDATA[Vicious Seduction (The Byrne Brothers, #4)]]> 196494894 Lina Schultze is a pawn.
A shiny piece of plastic I’ll use in my plan for revenge.

I’ll seduce her. Claim her.
Then flaunt my acquisition in front of her ex, Lawrence Wellington—
The man I plan to destroy.

Once my mission is complete, I’ll send Lina packing.

She’ll be the easiest and most … pleasurable part of my vengeance.
Charming her away from a man old enough to be her father won’t be an issue.

And if it comes down to it, I’m not above using force.

Lina
Oran Byrne has made his intentions clear—
He’ll stop at nothing to have me.

But he’s just like every other rich, entitled asshole.
He doesn't know me.
All he sees is a pretty object to be possessed and discarded.

They all underestimate me.

I’ve come back to the Olympus Club for a reason,
And I won’t let anything stop me,
Least of all a smooth-talking criminal with arsenic on his tongue.

If Oran expects me to fall into his open arms,
He’s in for a world of disappointment.

*Vicious Seduction is the fourth book in The Byrne Brothers series. Each book in the series features a different couple and can be read as a standalone with a happily ever after, but for maximum enjoyment, follow the recommended reading order. A dark romance with adult themes, Vicious Seduction may not be suitable for sensitive audiences.

A Note from the Author: Rivals to lovers has never been as deliciously seductive as Oran and Lina’s story. Bold, determined, and ruthless, these two go head-to-head, and the result is explosive in the most delectable way. Get ready for sexual tension dripping from every captivating page!

For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!]]>

All in all, the whole debacle had been his fault, and after I got over my embarrassment, I was going to make him pay. "

Being a young, semi-talented artist with big dreams is hard enough for June Matthews, but to make matters worse, her boss is a total dick. Dr. Amos Brady, a neurosurgeon, and unapologetic a-hole, seems determined to make his secretary’s life miserable. When Dr. Brady rudely points out that her “stripper” underwear is showing, June decides she’s had enough. Well, okay, she hadn’t meant to set his pants on fire, but she isn't mad about it, either. That is, until their office manager makes everyone go to a wilderness retreat to “foster communication” and force everyone to get along. June doesn’t intend to get along with Dr. Brady… but she does intend to get even.

Amos barely notices the fuming “pocket doll” reincarnation marching around indignantly under his nose. He’s got bigger problems than June Matthews. His research in the field of connectomics has hit an enormous snag, and now his office manager thinks they need a weekend in the Tetons to improve office morale. Nobody has time for that. But then June tries and fails–miserably–to land a prank on Amos at the retreat, and it has Dr. Brady re-thinking his initial assumptions about quirky June Matthews. Has she always been that… sparkly? He isn’t sure what he would do with a sprinkle-covered cupcake like June, but he’s willing to take a taste and find out.]]>

Top-tier lawyer Zev Brady is not in control. Ever since a half-naked heiress fell out of a tree and onto his head, the carefully crafted order in his life has gone berzerk. One moment, he was at a wedding his bossy sister, Azura, had forced him to attend, and the next, he had Isla Valehart in his arms. Now, the paparazzi have popped up out of nowhere, and they’ve caught him with a mostly naked millionaire darling in his arms. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Azura insists there’s only one solution to the problem: Fake date Isla Valehart until the paparazzi leave her alone.

Ecologist nerd Isla Valehart has never been kissed. She’s never been touched by a man, never been wooed, and she’s certainly never been carried in her underwear by a giant yeti of a man. He’s easy to provoke, and Isla loves poking the grouchy lawyer bear. Also, she’s somehow ended up making a deal with Zev that she can’t resist: Stay in his home so he can keep an eye on her, and he’ll give her kissing lessons.

Ladies Man (Manwhore, #3) 27231804 He’s the one night stand.

You’d think the man who sends hot looks my way, who called me succulent, would want to strip me to my skin and spread me out on his bed like every other woman in Chicago.

Except he passed on my offer….

Just like I once did on his.

He’s wary, like I am.

He’s broken, like I am.

And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.

So I try to distract myself. I’m back to dating.

Tahoe and I are strictly friends. He doesn’t think my new beau is good enough, but to him, no man is good enough for me. Especially Tahoe himself.

But the more time Tahoe and I spend around each other, the more confused I feel.

I'm trying to open myself to love.

But I'm quickly realizing that the only man I want is stubborn, cocky, unattainable playboy Tahoe Roth.

The one your mother warned you about.
The one my body craves.
The only one who will surely break my heart.]]>

That man is gone.
In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.

The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.
It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.
I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.
And he doesn’t.
Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.
Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.

Womanizer (Manwhore, #4) 29972128
You've seen the headlines: Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away!

We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more.
But I had never been drawn to a guy the way I was drawn to this one: my brother's best friend, and CEO of the company where I interned.
Even knowing I should stay away, I proved to be too human, after all.
The chemistry was amazing.
The laughs were incredible.
I opened up to him in more ways than I'd opened up to anyone before.
But sex was as far as I'd go.
Just sex because he was too irresistible.
Just sex because I wouldn't be falling for him.
Just sex because I'd leave in three months, and I'd like for my brother not to kill me, and for nobody to find out he was my wicked little secret.
He wasn't the One.
He was just a womanizer.

Wildfire (Maple Hills, #2) 101145836
Maple Hills students Russ Callaghan and Aurora Roberts cross paths at a party celebrating the end of the academic year, where a drinking game results in them having a passionate one-night stand. Never one to overstay her welcome (or expect much from a man), Aurora slips away before Russ even has the chance to ask for her full name.

Imagine their surprise when they bump into each other on the first day of the summer camp where they are both counselors, hoping to escape their complicated home lives by spending the summer working. Russ hopes if he gets far enough away from Maple Hills, he can avoid dealing with the repercussions of his father’s gambling addiction, while Aurora is tired of craving attention from everyone around her, and wants to go back to the last place she truly felt at home.

Russ knows breaking the camp’s strict “no staff fraternizing” rule will have him heading back to Maple Hills before the summer is over, but unfortunately for him, Aurora has never been very good at caring about the rules. Will the two learn to peacefully coexist? Or did their one night together start a fire they can’t put out?]]>

<![CDATA[The Treasure Hunt Hookup (Hollywood Bachelors, #3)]]> 131069216 Join the hunt for love in this hot and hilarious rom-com with a black cat heroine, cinnamon roll hero, and all the pumpkin spice fall reading vibes! Perfect for fans of Tessa Bailey, Ali Hazelwood, and Emily Henry.

Reeve Donovan is Hollywood’s hottest, most charmingly-stubborn director… and the last man I expected to find strolling down Main Street in my sleepy Blue Ridge hometown. Especially since last time I saw him, I was wearing (half) a slutty super-spy costume, and he was facedown in an Indiana Jones outfit, searching for my… buried treasure.

With his tongue.

Ahem.

It turns out, my steamy Halloween hookup wants to find the location of my Great-Grandpa Earl’s missing gold… along with everyone else. The Fortune family’s wayward fortune is the stuff of legends, but I always figured it was just that: fiction. Until Reeve and I stumble on a clue that jump-starts our quest… and makes us unlikely partners in our hunt for the gold.

Soon, we’re swept up in a wild race for the treasure, jostling with a reality TV crew, grumpy historians, and my idiot of an ex-husband (don’t ask). I’ve been burned in love before, and have zero intention of falling for this arrogant charmer… Except Reeve has other plans.

He wants me. I want the gold. And my burning loins want… another go-around with Indy’s whip. We’re both used to getting our own way, so what happens when that way leads straight to the bedroom? And can we outwit the other treasure hunters to claim the ultimate prize?

Find out in the hot and hilarious new romance from Lila Monroe!

Mogul (Manhattan, #2) 39319591 A brand new contemporary romance from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

He's my most delicious secret.
The hot Suit I had a one-night stand with one evening.
I didn't know anything about him, not even his name.
Only that we shared a taxi, and he was staying at the hotel where I worked.
We met in room 1103. Where he commanded not only my body but my soul.
The next day he was gone and I only had a memory of him.
I could still taste his kisses, feel his demanding touch.
I searched for him for months. Daydreaming about him. Wondering if I'd ever find him.
Until the day I find myself staring face to face with his jeweled black eyes again.
He says lets keep it casual, and my heart knows that falling for this workaholic in a three-thousand-dollar suit is off the table.
Because he has a secret. One that's a deal breaker for me.
My Suit has a name.
Ian Ford.
And this is our story.

We’ve been dancing around each other for years. It’s not a dance I’m proud of. The day we met, I fell out of my chair. Now, we’re stuck in this repeating pattern: she corners me, I freeze then I bolt. I’m 33 years old and I should be able to handle a woman better than this.

But she’s not just any woman. She’s tough, smart, and her curves make my legs numb.

Oh yeah, she’s also my employee.

But when I finally work up the nerve to talk to her, I stick my foot in my mouth. Then that night, when her world is touched by violence, I firmly lodge my foot all the way into my throat.

Now I’ll do anything to fix what I’ve broken. I’m working to contain the aftermath of that night, and I have a plan to woo her (yes, I said woo). And my plan was working. Slowly, steadily, she was coming to me.

Then my brothers decided to â€help’ us along and now we’re stranded at a tiny motel in the middle of nowhere, in a snowstorm.

And there’s only one bed.

When we get out of here, I’m going to murder my brothers. Then I’m going to make damn sure the threats against her are handled. Because even though I’m a computer geek, I am more than capable of being the man she needs.

I just hope I don’t run out of time before I can show her.]]>

But in one short meeting, everything changes. Janey’s now at the very top of the Matters category. And coming from a man that’s never even been on a date, that’s saying a lot. She’s all I think about. All I dream about. I want her.

I want to be her husband.

I thought I could wait. I thought I could woo her slowly. But when she goes missing, I realize I’m done waiting.

So I propose…literally. Marry me for one year, and you don’t have to struggle anymore. I thought it was a long shot. I thought she’d say no.

I was wrong.

Now she’s mine. But can I convince her to make this marriage real? Or will she walk away with my heart at the end of a year?]]>

<![CDATA[The Vine Witch (The Vine Witch, #1)]]> 46015350
For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

Vigneron Jean-Paul Martel naively favors science over superstition, and he certainly doesn’t endorse the locals’ belief in witches. But Elena knows a hex when she sees one, and the vineyard is covered in them. To stay on and help the vines recover, she’ll have to hide her true identity, along with her plans for revenge against whoever stole seven winters of her life. And she won’t rest until she can defy the evil powers that are still a threat to herself, Jean-Paul, and the ancient vine-witch legacy in the rolling hills of the Chanceaux Valley.]]>

Body Check 201144140 New York Times bestselling author of the Briar U series Elle Kennedy’s first hockey romance, Body Check, is now released in an expanded version, with both new and enhanced scenes by the author! More story, more hockey—and more heat!

After a childhood spent being dragged around the country by her hockey coach father, Hayden Houston intends to take some time to figure out her future. Whether that future will include her currently off-again boyfriend remains to be seen. What it certainly won’t include is the for-one-night-only guy she just met at a bar.

It seems hockey star Brody Croft did not get the memo about being temporary. Big, bold and driven, he’s dedicated in everything he does. Up till now, that’s been his team—the one owned by Hayden’s dad. But his night with Hayden has sparked something he didn’t expect. The two of them are good together. Really good. There’s a connection he’s never experienced before, one he knows they’d be wrong to ignore. Even with a game-fixing scandal testing both their loyalties—to teammates, to friends…to family.

Part of Hayden wants to turn tail and run. A complicated relationship with a bad boy hockey player is exactly what she never wanted. But when it comes to Brody, Hayden is realizing that people can be so much more than what they seem.]]>

Zach (The Brash Brothers, #5) 63320029 An image-conscious playboy hires a frumpy, shoe-losing, directionally challenged virgin. Let the chaos commence!

Smooth, Playboy, Billionaire.

All labels people apply to me. But the only label I actually care about is Brother.

Everything I do is for them. For the empire we built together. Women are an enjoyable distraction, that’s all.

So why can’t I stop thinking about the frumpy woman who’s taken over my marketing department? She’s constantly getting lost. She loses her shoes, and let’s face it, she’s just weird. I mean, yeah, she’s a brilliant marketer. And ok, my brothers like her. And fine, she has a backbone of steel and stands up to me when i’m being a dick.

But no way am I going to get sucked into a relationship like my brothers have.

I am a woman on the edge.

Ok, fine, not on the edge. But I really have nothing left. So why not pick up and move to a new city, start a new job, and become a totally new person? I’ve never been on an Airplane or outside of New York City, but so what?

People-ing is hard. Harder than I thought. But I’ve gotten sucked into this big, wild family, and I kind of like it. So maybe I can start a new life. Maybe I can cross some things off my Get a New Life list.

But never in a million years did I think I’d do any of them with my boss. But suddenly, there I am, laying on top of him in a crowd of people…Whoops, that came out dirtier than it was in my head.

So what’s a virgin, frump of a woman supposed to do when her sexy boss starts staring, and touching and trying to take care of her? No really…I have no idea what I’m doing. Help!]]>

But we have nothing in common. He’s a future king. And I’m perfectly happy slogging through mud in my work boots.

So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

Maybe because he won’t stop texting me. And sending me gifts. And making me feel like everything I find awkward and weird about myself is special and amazing.

And there’s also that little detail of him offering me my dream job and telling me that together we can change the world.

Well, I could probably work for him.

And if I have to marry him temporarily to get what we both want, then fine. It’s for the greater good.

It has nothing to do with the way he kisses me. Or that dirty mouth. Or the royal treatment he gives me in the bedroom.

<![CDATA[Viciously Yours (Fae Kings of Eden, #1)]]> 205404157
When Rennick was thirteen, the gods bestowed upon him the name of his fated mate--a human girl. As the sole heir to the Mountain Kingdom, magic bound him to his kingdom until he ascended the throne on his twenty-fifth birthday, and as a human, she couldn't cross the magical barrier separating the humans from the fae. Heartsore and consumed with thoughts of her, he did the only thing he could and sent her anonymous letters and gifts…

Until he crossed the barrier into her kingdom to claim her as his own.

Six months after Amelia's thirteenth birthday, she received a strange letter from a fae boy claiming her as his mate. Humans weren't taught much about the fae, and one look at the horrifying doll meant to be her belated birthday gift solidified her suspicions that someone was playing a cruel joke. Except the letters and odd gifts kept coming. Against her better judgment, Amelia fell in love with her mysterious admirer throughout the years, certain they would never meet. But on her twenty-fifth birthday, her walk to work was interrupted by two familiar words she'd read a million times.

"Hello, love."

Viciously Yours is a new adult fantasy romance long novella/short novel of about 60k words/250 pages. It is fast-paced and focuses solely on the relationship between the two main characters. There is no overarching background plot. Example: Rebels attack the kingdoms, but there is no story as to why because it just is.

The couple does have minor obstacles, but there is no miscommunication trope, no third act breakup, and no cheating.

PLEASE NOTE: The male main character does a few morally black things to those he deems a threat to his relationship. There are no shades of grey.

CONTENT WARNINGS:
Orphaned heroine, gore, unethical kills and decisions by main characters, death of a parent, mature language, explicit sexual situations, graphic violence and death]]>

What I actually do: Drink too much champagne and blurt out to my best guy friend that I’d really like to get back on the horse.

But since the charming and confident pro football star owes five public dates to his dating app sponsor, we make a deal to help each other out.

Pretty soon, our public how to date lessons turn into, ahem, very private ones. And I’m a star student, graduating quickly from flirty banter and lingering looks to toe-curling, sheet-grabbing, mind-blowing hours of physical education.

The problem? Turns out learning to date again feels a lot like the real thing. Can our friendship withstand all these late-night bedroom sessions?]]>

Without going too in depth, nor giving away too many spoilers, let me just say: Whichever fanfiction you read throughout the year while you were waiting for this one... they were true. They were right. And I'm not sure what that says about the book. It might have been predictable. It might have been a little weird. And the ship has been stalled in the harbor. But I think it was perfect.

This is the second book in the series. So it goes without saying that this one is the bridge. It solves the problems from the first and presents new problems for the third. Well, kind of. The Wicked King didn't explicitly solve any problems. I don't think. It was more like a band-aid. A very big band-aid. There was definite character growth in all of them and there were a couple of new villains that were a little surprising. Jude's attitude did a real big turn.

She and Taryn's did a whole 360 degree turn. It was a little sad at the end, to tell you the truth. And Cardan. Oh. Cardan. That boy. I am more in love with him than ever.

I know that it's going to be next to impossible for my wish to come true, but if we could get The Queen of Nothing before the new year...I'll be ecstatic.

Catch and Keep 203578799 In Erin Hahn's latest cozy, swoony romance, Maren Laughlin has been fishing her whole life, but she’s finally ready to be caught.

At thirty-three, Maren Laughlin's just turned down her boyfriend’s proposal, walked away from her decade-long position as a park ranger, and returned to her childhood playground in Northern Wisconsin to accept her inheritance: a decrepit waterfront bait shop. After a lifetime of letting things happen to her, she’s ready to start making her own moves, even if everyone else thinks she’s making the wrong ones. Well, not everyone—at least the local heartstopper and resort owner is on her side.

Josiah Cole has made some missteps in his life, but he’s proud of what he has: two awesome kids and the keys to the kind of getaway spot that has families coming back every summer– their up north home away from home. After his marriage dissolved, leaving him a single dad, he feels he’s the last person to judge Maren for her recent transformation (even if his best friend, her brother, wants him to feel otherwise). Besides, he genuinely likes having her around. She’s a breath of fresh air, his kids adore her (not to mention her dog, Rogers), and it doesn’t hurt that she’s beautiful.

Things between Maren and Joe are easy. So easy, they’re fully immersed in the middle before they even decide to begin. It’s not a question of should they, but rather can they make it last? Are things too easy, or is this just how real love works? In Erin Hahn’s heartwarmingly sexy Catch and Keep, Maren and Joe have to be brave enough to find out.]]>

She also makes sure that both POVs have or create a community around them with which to talk. About anything and everything. I adore the way Hahn writes relationships, with so much mutual gusto and no qualms about it. Maren and Joe were absolutely adorable.

The way they didn’t really fight their feelings and just cautiously dived in was perfect. To speak nothing of the best characters of all, the children. Anders was just about the cutest, mightiest man there ever was and Lucy was honestly so lovable from the start, I don’t know how what happened in the book happened.

I was right there with Maren and her feelings. The other thing I absolutely adore about Hahn’s writing is her chapter titles are song titles and my type of neurospicy is one where just the name or part of a lyric will trigger the song playing in my head. It makes for a really good playlist.

If I Stopped Haunting You 203578889
It's been months since horror author Penelope Skinner threw a book at Neil Storm. But he was so infuriating, with his sparkling green eyes and his bestselling horror novels that claimed to break Native stereotypes. And now she’s a publishing pariah and hasn’t been able to write a word since. So when her friend invites her on a too-good-to-be-true writers retreat in a supposedly haunted Scottish castle, she seizes the opportunity. Of course, some things really are too good to be true.

Neil wants nothing less than to be trapped in a castle with the frustratingly adorable woman who threw a book at him. She drew blood! Worse still, she unleashed a serious case of self-doubt! Neil is terrified to write another bestselling “book without a soul,” as Pen called it. All Neil wants is to find inspiration, while completely avoiding her.

But as the retreat begins, Pen and Neil are stunned to find themselves trapped in a real-life ghost story. Even more horrifying, they’re stuck together and a truly shocking (extremely hot) almost-kiss has left them rethinking their feelings, and… maybe they shouldn’t have been enemies at all? But if they can’t stop the ghosts pursuing them, they may never have the chance to find out.

Full of spooky chills and even more sexy thrills, If I Stopped Haunting You by Colby Wilkens is the funny, fast-paced romp romance readers have been waiting for!]]>

I really don’t need any external factors to ramp my anxiety up. But I can’t resist a good enemies to lovers. I’m not one hundred percent sure I would call this enemies to lovers. I feel like it’s more animosity to lovers. At least on Penelope’s part.

I don’t think Nate ever held animosity as such aside from the normal animosity one would hold against someone who has attacked you. I do feel like the relationship (not the lust) could have been expanded on a little bit better. On Penelope’s part, it seemed slightly forced and on Nate’s part it seemed wholly lustful.

Speaking of lust, the smexy scenes weren’t bad. At. All. I genuinely enjoyed them. The horror part of the story, though, takes the cake. I used to love watching Scooby Doo as a kid and it sort of felt like that but for adults. Mind you, I scare pretty easily but the descriptions and the language used was so captivating, I genuinely felt scared alongside Nate and Penelope.

IISHY was an interesting read. A definite departure from my typical. But not a bad one. I liked how the story was paced pretty well and the fact that it hit on several topics in the book world that are definitely worth talking about. Mainly about BIPOC authors and characters. I liked it.]]>

The chemistry, which as a romance is arguably the most important part of the story, was almost non existent. The main characters seemed almost forced into this relationship and the thought process to some of their moments didn’t make sense.

In my opinion, Summer was just desperate to belong and was making herself fit into what she thought she needed . And Brooks wanted to be angry about something but couldn’t really figure out what it was he needed to be angry about.

The writing was also pretty passive, with whole passages dedicated to their inner thoughts and almost nothing dedicated to what was actually happening. It made for some very, very slow moving plot lines. May was trying but I don’t know if it needs another round of editing or if the copy I got was as close to the final draft as possible. I’m not sure.

All I do know is that I didn’t like it. There were red flags popping up everywhere for Brooks and Summer and the story, and not the kind that we like. I feel like May never dedicated any time to fleshing these out. Overall, the passive voice, the slow pacing and the seemingly lack of chemistry between Summer and Brooks made it hard for me to complete. It’s a 2.5 star read for me and that’s begrudgingly.]]>

This book was so cute. The character arc for Phebe was amazing and so real! And Brody was the cutest thing ever. This story touched on things currently happening in the world and showed us a glimpse into the mental state and world of corporate America. Specifically a woman in corporate America. the ordeals that Phebe had to endure in this book were so close to all of those stories we have heard too much of lately on the news.

The slight switch in gender roles in this book was refreshing. Brody was all for talking about feelings and was happy doing a simple job that didn’t take much effort (something everybody thinks of housewives). While Phebe strived to make her mark on commercial real estate and get a cushy corner office as well as being super uncomfortable talking about touchy-feely stuff. Those simple details truly enhanced the story for me. It isn’t something that is stated outright. Those characters had apparently always been that way, according to their friends, but it became supremely evident when Phebe and Brody are put together. The dichotomy was masterful.

It touched on matters of the heart and of money. It took its time but it was by no means a slow burn. The love scenes were hot enough to burn bed sheets.

It was amazing. and I can’t wait for her next one.

<![CDATA[Unbroken (Loveless, Texas #0.5)]]> 41715441 From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men series comes a captivating novella about a rugged rodeo star who will do anything to protect the people he loves.

When rodeo star Crew Lawton loses everything in a bad bet, he has no choice but to take a new job to pay off his debts – even if it means becoming the face of an expensive male skincare line. Crew is used to getting sweaty and rustling in the dirt, not posing for photo shoots. And he’s certainly not used to being bossed around by a woman who doesn’t even know the difference between bulls and broncs. But Crew owes money to dangerous criminals, and he’ll do anything Della says in order to pay them back and keep them far away from his family in Loveless, Texas…

The launch of her new men’s line for her family’s company means everything to Della Deveaux, and she’s not willing to let some rugged, arrogant cowboy ruin her campaign. Crew Lawton is the last man she would have chosen to represent her chic, sophisticated brand. Unfortunately, her father already invested millions in Crew’s stupidly handsome face. Yet the more time they spend together, Della and Crew realize that opposites do attract. But when the time comes for Crew to face his past mistakes, will he be able to protect his family…and the woman he’s come to love?]]>

This book is no different.

Jay Crownover weaves these small intricate details that make all the difference in books such as these.

Della, the take charge this is my world woman, is a force to be reckoned with. She will not let anything stand in her way of making sure her product line launches successfully. And Crew is the same way. He won’t let anything come between him and his family. No matter how misguided the intention.

The two of them together are explosive and even more so when you add the attraction neither one of them can deny. Della and Crew both try to resist each other but there is no denying fate. (Or whatever it is you want to call it.)

Crew seemed determined to enjoy the little mini vacation that Della’s job afforded him but the looming danger was never far from his mind. The ease of his relationship with his sister was adorable to watch and reminded me so much of my own relationship with my siblings. He was going to do a good job but was not willing to sacrifice his sister in the process. He wanted to make it right and recognized that he had a problem and that he needed help. That was epic to see. He really grew a lot in a short of amount of time and Jay Crownover made it so that it wasn’t too quick. It seemed viable, the amount of time.

Della needed more of a push to grow. She needed to hear how Crew was affecting her life from various sources before realizing that he was meant to be in her life. In one way or another. Crew’s sister getting involved seemed like such a sisterly thing to do, I thought it was hilarious.

There was ample evidence that neither Crew nor Della had the perfect childhood they portrayed. But that didn’t stop them from getting that happy ever after. It was the cutest thing. And something one should read when little eyes are not near.(Wink Wink)]]>

Second, Noah was super concerned about his brother, which I get, but it seemed a little excessive to me. Like I get it. *BECOMING VAGUE TO AVOID SPOILERS* You think you caused something and made your brother into what he is now.

Maybe they all needed therapy.

Grace’s dad also seemed a little weird in terms of the attitude he took.

Making Up (Shacking Up, #4) 45324292 A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.]]>

I just wasn’t in the mood. Baring that, I really liked it. The book focused on Cosy Griffin as a couple, and that poses a few questions.

Griffin is older than Cosy and it’s made blatantly obvious several times. He’s not so so much older but it’s enough to bother him. The relationship, from early on, suffers because of this. Griffin almost tries to overcompensate for the gap and Cosy tries to add too many hard limits. They both realise that, to make a relationship work, no matter the ages, they need to communicate better. But, of course, right as things are getting good, there comes a bomb. They both handle the aftermath really well and extremely mature. But, there is always something drawing them back to each other.

My mom always says that what belongs to the priest go to the church and that’s definitely the case here. Cosy and Griffin belong to each other, they each bring something to the relationship that the other needs.

Cosy, along with maturing in her relationship with Griffin, also does better in her relationship with her sister. I loved seeing that. It was definitely a major factor in rising the rating. The fact that the sisters rise above their situations, both individually and together and help one another.]]>

Here it is broken down: The character development was on point. It was honestly so perfect. It wasn’t like as soon as Brit suggested this, Hunter was all for it. No, he was adamantly opposed to it. But it was the cutest thing ever. The book was devoured by yours truly and I hadn’t expected anything else from Lauren Layne. And it wasn’t skeezy either. The friendship was still very much there. I think that was why it worked so well. It was all about them two. Not anybody else stepping in. And the epilogue was the cutest thing ever.

The Friends theme song was stuck in my head the whole rest of the day.

I highly recommend it.

Okay. So I loved this series and this book. I wasn’t really expecting it to turn the way it did because of how the characters had acted in all of the other books and the way they were acting in the beginning of the book. But it was so evident and so adorable in the way this relationship flourished and the way the friends all came together and helped them. The ending killed me.

This story was all kinds of adorable. Jake was the cutest police officer ever! He was kind and curteous and sweet and just the cutest thing. Krista was a badbutt lady. She was not willing to be run over or pushed aside in a traditionally male dominated field. She was not going to put up with it. But she wasn’t unwilling to be treated like one of the boys. Yes, she was plumber. But she was still a woman. And Jake knew that from the start. The two of them together had great chemistry and I would love to have a big book about them alone.
Always Ready by Kimberly Nee:
Steve and Lauren were so sweet together. I loved it. She was not going to let him leave again. No matter what. I would rather her think a little more about her job and practical things like that but it wasn’t entirely a deal breaker. Steve was super cute with her and he was going to fight till his last breath for her. And that’s all everybody wants. And it was super well done. Nobody in this story gave anything super significant up for the other. Not anything that went against their morals or beliefs.
The Navy Seal’s Secret Baby by Kat Baxter:
I think this story was my favorite out of all of them. Kevin and Jane were massively adorable in the beginning and seeing a giant man with a tiny baby is just icing on the cake. Jane did the right thing from the very beginning. She tried to get into contact and tried to tell him. And Kevin had the normal response: anger and incredulity. But everything worked out, Kevin didn’t stay angry and Jane gave him a chance to be a dad. The story itself was short and sweet and so cute it was almost too much.
Call Me Crazy by Rebecca Royce:
Wyatt and Faith were perfect for each other. I do wish that the story had expanded a little more on the ways that Faith was abused by her husband. But the story was about Faith and Wyatt. I don’t think that Wyatt needed to beat himself up so much after finding out what was what. However, Wyatt seems the type to take everything on himself. Faith was nearly perfect. She was tough but still tender. And the perfect role model for her children. This story was cute.
Two for the Road by Bisou deVie:
I didn’t like this one. It seemed really thrown together in a hurry. The characters were kind of buttholes and they just didn’t have a lot of chemistry together. I don’t know. I couldn’t connect with this one.
View from the Top by Carmen Falcone:
Jenny and Mack were so sweet together. They had a lot of chemistry right off the bat and the way they both stood up to her parents was super adorable.
Precious Cargo by Nicole Morgan:
Brandon and Alena had such an interesting dynamic. I don’t think everything they did was correct nor was it at the right time. But the intentions were good. I honestly want to know what happens next.
Coming in Hot by Kate Meader:
Eveline was a take charge no holds barred kind of woman. And Tyler was super cute. The two of them together were explosive. Eveline’s father liked them together. Which is saying something if the words of Eveline are to be believed. She honestly had no reason to get mad and to blame Tyler for something like that is kind of ….stupid. But the ending is to die for.
Along Came A Spider by Delilah Devlin:
This story was super interesting. It had to do with 9/11 and the aftermath. Which we are all still dealing with. Spider was a super interesting character. And Jessie was a badbutt. The two had a very interesting dynamic and I am super interested to see a whole book about them.

The two had a very interesting dynamic and I am super interested to see a whole book about them.]]>

review:
This book had some good and some bad. There were a couple of stories that I couldn’t get into for whatever reason. It’s not that they were bad, it’s that they didn’t click with me. Here’s the individual reviews:
Ready for trouble by Tina Donahue:

Wild Love (Rose Hill, #1) 199368721 She's been driving him wild for years . . . the good kind of wild.

The kind of wild that comes with wanting your best friend's little sister and knowing you can't have her.

Forbes may have labeled Ford Grant the World's Hottest Billionaire, but all he cares about is escaping the press and opening a recording studio in gorgeous small town Rose Hill. Something that comes to a screeching halt when he ends up face-to-face with a young girl who claims he's her biological father. Now, he spends his days balancing business with parenting a sullen twelve-year-old, all while trying desperately to keep his hands the hell off his best friend's sister, Rosie Belmont.

After living in the city, Rosie came blasting back into town like a storm. Beautiful, messy, and chaotic. And one wide-eyed, desperate plea for a job is all it takes for Ford to hire her. He vows to keep her at arm's length. Tries to stick to scowls and grumpy one-liners. But with her, verbal sparring is a type of foreplay―friction that soon turns to blistering heat.

Ford knows damn well he shouldn't cross this line. But shouldn't and can't are two very different things.

And the only thing he truly can't do is resist her.]]>

Wren Ford is the city attorney for Cold Springs—a job she takes seriously. Jesse is head over heels in love with Wren, but he can’t picture a happily ever after. What would an attorney and out-of-his-league goddess want with him? Especially when a flirty, cocky lawyer who screams money and power shows an interest in Wren.

As a scandalous high-profile split escalates from name-calling to corporate takeovers, Wren and Jesse must team up to find a way to protect the people and the town they love. And everyone in Cold Springs is rooting for them to figure out that maybe, against all odds, they’re made for each other.

Mr. Big Shot 196961573 Biting banter, fake relationships, and illicit workplace rendezvous—anything goes in this romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author R.S. Grey.

While most little girls grow up idolizing Ariel or Belle, I was banging a plastic gavel and pretending to be Judge Judy. I spent my summers divorcing Barbie and Ken and splitting their Dreamhouse assets. Now, my goal to become the very best acquisitions lawyer at the top firm in Chicago is within reach.

I’m one month into my big-girl job at Elwood Hoyt, venti Starbucks in hand, ready to take on the day. The sleek elevator doors are about to close…then he steps in after me. Hudson Rhodes—the one senior partner I was told to avoid at all costs—just so happens to be the heartless villain I’m assigned to work under.

Ever since he found out who I am—the Scarlett Elwood—we’ve been enemies, the sort who constantly bicker and bark, take jabs in the boardroom, and occasionally pop up shirtless in each other’s steamy dreams. Y’know, that kind. He has to know I could run to my dad at any time and demand his firing, but his confident smirk says he knows I’d never give him the satisfaction.

The elevator chimes as we reach our floor, and I feel his broad shoulders pull even with mine. Fury mixes with fear, hatred with lust. He turns to briefly hold my gaze before confidently stepping out in front. His message is

If I want to reach my goal, I’m going to have to go through him first.]]>
