We're making our way through the four elements and this week is devoted to the second entry, fire. Your choice may have a link to the element through the title, subject matter, author, cover, or whatever your heart desires. Be as strict or as loose as you want.

-----------------------------------
Suggestions:
Popular Word In Title Fire Books
Romance Novels with Fire in the Title
Books with Fire/Flames on the Cover
"Some Like it Hot" Listopia
Historical Romance with a Connection to Fire Listopia
-----------------------------------

Optional questions:
- What are you reading for this category?
- How is it connected to "fire"?

Marie | 1047 comments I'm going super-obvious totally unimaginative with this one - Catching Fire. I read the first in series this year and was surprised how much I enjoyed it, so definitely had to fit number 2 into the 2018 plan.

Fire Country

The word is in the title...BUT, the word is in the title due to the fact they live in a very very hot dystopian world.

message 25: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Audiogirl.booking.it (audiogirlbookingit) | 488 comments I am reading City on Fire for this prompt. I am about 40% done of this long 900+ page book. I think the fire is related to the Fireworks that is family business of one of the main characters, as well as the general feeling of heated tension at that time in1970s NYC among the young anti culture/ counter culture youths. So far the book is really good!

message 26: by Cassinator (new)

Cassinator | 8 comments Catching Fire is what I'll be reading for this category, going to read the entire trilogy with this challenge :)

message 27: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley Stoeger brzozowski | 42 comments Not gonna lie, the one I chose for this week may be pretty steamy, but I thought I could use a break as I was choosing pretty heavy topics or writing stAgents Under Fireyles.

Fire by L. B. Gilbert
Fire (The Elementals #1) by L.B. Gilbert
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Strong female characters, supernaturals, action and a bit of love. I even went on to read the next one Air. BOOM two books of the challenge and I liked Air even better.

There are a couple of very interesting places he tells about. Enjoy

message 35: by Serendipity (new)

Serendipity | 441 comments Catching Fire. My daughter had been keen for me to read the Hunger Games series for a while. I'd just finished The Hunger Gamesso this was the obvious choice for this category.

message 36: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 2257 comments I did not intend to choose a book with fire in the title for this, but I read Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House and realized it would be silly to NOT count it.

message 37: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1970 comments - What are you reading for this category? Heir of Fire
- How is it connected to "fire"? Obviously it is in the title but the part II of the book seems to have more on fire. I guess I'll see.

I originally had Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire slated for this slot but I'm doing a buddy read on the Throne of Glass series. I'm hoping to fit Harry in another spot somewhere a little later in the year but not too far off!

message 38: by Anna (new)

Anna | 1007 comments - What are you reading for this category?
Flame in the Dark by Faith Hunter.

- How is it connected to "fire"?

I read The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire That Saved America, which is a narrative nonfiction book about the massive wildfire in the western US in 1910 and how the Forest Service got its start. Very interesting read. 4 Stars.

message 40: by Jody (new)

message 41: by Jeimy (new)

Jeimy (wanderingbookaneer) I am actually going to read three books for this prompt, maybe even four. The first book I will read is The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin, which has the word fire on the title. I am going to use this prompt to read more about the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire: Triangle: The Fire That Changed America and Flesh & Blood So Cheap: The Triangle Fire and Its Legacy. If I have time this week I will also tackle American Fire: Love, Arson, and Life in a Vanishing Land, a book that has been on my TBR for a while.

The Witch Doesn't Burn in this One
The Witch Doesn't Burn in this One (Women are Some Kind of Magic, #2) by Amanda Lovelace

The book relates to fire due to the title, with the word 'burn'. Throughout the story there are also many references to matches, fires, and burning.

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3766 comments I am reading Iron Gold Iron Gold (Red Rising, #4) by Pierce Brown .
The cover looks like it has a feather on fire!

message 48: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 549 comments I have read The Burning Forest: Essays on Chinese Culture and Politics by Simon Leys. It was the only one in my tbr collection with reference to fire. Rather old and dated, but the author was a university lecturer of mine, and it reacquainted me with his wit and intelligence.

message 49: by Erika (new)

Erika wickwire I chose Daughter of the Siren Queen because there is a boat in the top of the cover that is on fire. Works for me

message 50: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 891 comments For this prompt, I read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. Such a good story!
To tell you how this is related to the fire prompt would give away a key element of the story.... but it鈥檚 there鈥 a flame here, a wisp of smoke there.
If anyone is looking for a good fiction for the 1st person narrator or based on a secret prompts, this would work very well.
Highly recommend.
