Owlcrate and Fairyloot are just 2 types of subscription boxes. You subscribe to the website, and you get sent a box a month. Each box costs about $30–$35 (USD). Included is 1 hardcover book and a bunch of bookish goodies, usually curated by the author! Sometimes you can get 2 books!

Each subscription box has a monthly theme, but you don't know what you'll get until you receive the box. You don't have to, but they like when you take pictures or record your unboxing experience. You see a lot of BookTubers doing this.

What are your opinions? Is it worth it, or not?

Do you subscribe to these boxes?

If so, do you like them? What's your favorite thing about it? What's your least favorite thing? Would you consider unsubscribing? Or do you like it so much that you wouldn't unsubscribe?

If not, do you want to? Why or why not?

Do you know of any other subscription boxes? Do you recommend them or not? Why?

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 360 comments I haven't tried owlcrate or fairyloot yet, but I've tried FaeCrate. FaeCrate had some really good items in it but the book was very mediocre and the box arrived a month late so I don't know if I'd recommend it. I just ordered my first LitJoy Crate last month. I'll let all of you know what LitJoy is like once I receive it :)

Sarah I haven't tried either of these but I used to subscribe to Illumicrate which is UK based. I did like it but in the end I just found it very expensive, I liked the books but I wasn't all that bothered about the goodies that came with it and often ended up donating them so wasn't really worth it for me. I now subscribe to something called A Box of Stories and every 3 months get a delivery of 4 books, they have different boxes to choose from, fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, ya, crime etc and much prefer this as its just books!!
