Quarterly Series Buddy Reads!
We're bringing back an old idea from the Archives! Most of us love a good series, and I know I am always desperate to chat with others reading the same one, so here is our chance!
Here's how it works...
Nominations are Held
> March 1st - 15th
> June 1st - 15th
> September 1st - 15th
> December 1st - 15th
Voting (via POLL)
> March 16th - 25th
> June 16th - 25th
> September 16th - 25th
> December 16th - 25th
Reading & Discussion
> January 1st - March 31st
> April 1st - June 30th
> July 1st - September 30th
> October 1st - December 31st
Important Notes
> Reading and discussion can continue beyond these dates, but will no longer be moderated after the specified end date.
> Bonus Points: Any bonus points (dependent on ongoing challenges) will only be available during the official discussion period.
UNLESS....
> Series Extension: For series with more than 3 books, we'll conduct a poll to determine if the buddy read should continue into the next quarter.
> Continuation Criteria: The decision to extend will also depend on the participation rate.
Rules
> What books can be nominated?
You may nominate ANY series you'd like (as long as we have not read it as a group before!), but reading will always start with BOOK 1 and continue until the end of the quarter.
> Do we have to read the whole series?
We will make every effort to finish out a series (depending on publication dates and number of books). A basic reading timeline will be given at the beginning of the thread, but it is not necessary to read every book, you can participate at your own comfort level.*
> What about novellas or prequels within a series?
We are NOT including these as part of the buddy read, but there is no reason you cannot also read them and discuss them within the threads.
> What about page number restrictions?
There are no restrictions for the length of the books.*
*If you are reading and participating as part of a challenge for Bonus Points, those rules will be decided by the mod running the challenge.
