Requests in different languages

The benefit those threads gave to the Community has earned them, IMO, a place of their own.
I bumped the other thread because I use it as an index, and it was almost falling into page 2.
I don't have the patience to dig through the pages of the Archived section when I want to find the Azerbeijani requests thread, so I use Olga's thread to find the language threads.
If you make a new thread in the Archive section, it will suffer from the same problem as the language threads, it will be buried under the pages of archived requests.
Olga is gone from this Group, so someone should create a new, editable thread, but I'd say to wait and see if the language threads will have a place of their own or not.

I was just trying to be helpful, plus find out how many librarians are still willing to work on these threads. So many of them haven't been touched in months. I'm afraid we are posting the same requests again and again and with the notifications being turned off, who knows if librarians are even aware of these requests.

First, we need to know what will be the future of the language threads, or if they will stay in Archived folder, then we can start thinking about the best way to organize that.
Some threads are inactive, and that's natural, but some seem inactive, but they aren't.
But at this point it will be hard to find out.
I'm open to making a new Languages folder. Are you envisioning this as a working folder for Librarians only, or should members also be allowed to post requests there?
My initial thought is that this should be for Librarians only, as allowing members to post in the threads can quickly become unmanageable.
Another option is to create threads in / move threads to Looking for a Project, and I'll pin them to the top of that folder for easy access.

Librarians only or it will be chaos.
Also, I think you should make a "looking for librarians" post asking for librarians who are willing to help and start this from scratch.
Martina who was doing the Slovak, Czech & Polish thread has left, Olga who was doing the Russian, Ukrainian, Belarussian thread has left, the librarian who was doing the Estonian and Finnish thread decided she didn't want to do anymore and closed the thread, the Swedish librarian didn't realize that he would be flooded with requests and decided he was leaving, I could go on.
Most have become inactive and are full of requests.
I think we need to start over, and I am willing to spend the time posting the requests in the folders. Not sure if it would be possible but it would be wonderful if we could actually move the posts, so they are no longer in the add books folder, it would stop the same request being added more than once.
Oh, and it would be nice to have a comics folder and a librarian willing to add them. Those get skipped by most librarians.
I don't think putting this in Looking for a Project would work because everyone will start posting new requests in the folders, I think this needs to be hidden at the bottom of the folders page.

This would imply that the OP should be able to add (a) comment(s) when asked for additional info by a librarian.
However it is definitely not wanted that members make new requests in the language folder itself! These should continue to be submitted in the Adding New Books/Editions folder.
And an option to close a topic once fulfilled would, of course, be welcomed (similar to the Adding New Books folder).

Thank you for agreeing with this!
IMO I don't think it should be in the 'Projects' folder, as it could bury the projects.
ATM we already have enough threads to fill an entire page of the section, and a lot of languages don't even have thread, others are combined (Slovak/Czech,/Polish).
I think they should have a Section of its own.
About access. It's always risky to leave such a Section open to everyone. Untl now we haven't seen many people trying to 'cut line', using the language threads for that. But with a Section, with more visibillity, the risk might be greater.
OTOH, at this moment, the people who make most use of the threads are 3 users that aren't even librarians, but are helping us a lot, Edwina being one of those.
It would be a major loss if these users wouldn't have access to the Section.
About moving the actual requests, I'm not so sure it would be helpful:
It may be hard to implement, as GR would have to give 'moving threads' rights to librarians. And only for the Add new books and the Languages sections (otherwise there wouldn't be a difference between librarians and moderators).
The languages section could be easily flooded (if a language librarian would turn inactive, that language requests would be stuck in the Section).
Also, it might cause disconfort amongs some users, as some requests would pass on to the 'next level' and others wouldn't

If that is the case could we have a separate private group. This would need moderators though.

And of course, the option to close the topic would be most welcome as it would save the folder or each individual language topic from becoming huge and unwieldy (like so many other subfolders in the "Looking for a Project" folder).

."
If you allow me to say, I would be glad to retain access to the ability to help Librarians. Unfortunately, with the status of Author, I am not allowed to have the functions of a Librarian, and I can only add new books, as well as form projects (which are buried and have not received any attention at all for the last year, due to the lack of volunteers).
I know several languages 鈥嬧媋nd am familiar with almost all Slavic languages. If there is any possibility that I can do more, let me know. But I would also really like to receive hope that my projects will be done ... We all lose interest if we do not see a reaction to our attempts.

Just to have it as a reference here, the list of Language threads is here: /topic/show/...
Alright, new folder is here:
/topic/group...
I've left it at the bottom of the folder list as hopefully this will dissuade members from adding requests there.
If there are any current threads you'd like me to move into that folder, please post them here. 馃槉

Yes please, can you move this folder for the Dutch & Flemish requests?
/topic/show/...

I dream about a search filter that would give me results a) from the folder with the requests, b) for a certain language, c) with no comment from a librarian. I have no hopes for it ever becoming available, but there's no harm in dreaming, either.

I had also hoped that a language code added to the topic's title would help facilitate the sorting into language threads...
For option c) you might want to look for the number of posts within a topic and only select the ones with 1 post.
However, some requesters use an additional comment (or even more) together with their original request in order to provide extra info that they "forgot" to mention in their opening post (perhaps due to use of the app instead of desktop/laptop?) and you would then miss out on these requests.

Can you please close/archive the Dutch language topic # 2: /topic/show/...
I started a fresh one today here:
/topic/show/...

please also move these threads out of the Language folder:
/topic/show/...
/topic/show/...
/topic/show/...

Here is the previous French language requests thread (still in the Archived folder):
/topic/show/...

I did French language requests, but not anymore, so this old thread inactive. It would be better if your created a new one.
@Jaclyn
Could you create a list with language threads like I did (/topic/show/...)? There are old links, I no longer follow this topic.

First a librarian needs to want to add books in Arab. :) Since you are not a librarian, you should not have posted in this thread.
Only librarians can add books, but you can submit a request for adding a book. The third folder of the discussion board is about adding books. Please read the first post in that folder (visible on a computer, not in the app), follow the instruction and submit accordingly your request.
The languages folders have so many requests unanswered, and I don't know if librarians aren't getting notifications or if people no longer want to do the requests. Please post here and link to your thread if you want to continue helping with this or bump up your thread. I'll create a new post in the Archives folder listing the links and try to get it stuck on top.
There was so much progress made bringing down the numbers of Add Books in such a short amount of time. I hate to see this group effort come to an end.
Oh, and in case no one has told you lately - You are an amazing group of people and the time you spend doing this is greatly appreciated.
