Joseph La (innovatedmind) | 3 comments Hey everyone!
I am sort of a "reading virgin" as I've just started reading 2 years ago... I always thought that movies were better because it was visual... I was very wrong. Not knowing any better I began reading Stephen King (I am still in love with his work to this day)... the very first book I read Duma Key and it was amazing.

Then my ex girlfriend came along who is a HUGE Sci-fi/fantasy book geek and she got me into "Enders Game", which, was what made me fall into the genre.

After that I got into OSC's "Shadow Saga" and LOVED it....

Anyways make a long story short, I just finished "The Hunger Games" and the other two (and fell completely in love with it, even though i'm 22 and thought YA was sort of not worth my time) and I was wondering what series I should read next...

Keep in mind I love the whole "Apocalyptic-survival" type with a nice bit of Government Corruption (thanks Ender's Shadow) but I have to have a book that is very visual and makes me want to fall in love with the characters!

My "to read" list is as follows:
1) City of Ember
2) The Uglies
3) Boneshaker
4) The Windup Girl

My Favorite Books are:
1) All of Shadow Saga
2) All of Hunger Games
3) Book 4-5-6 of Harry Potter

Thank you so much!
- Joey

Maria Schneider (bearmountainbooks) | 111 comments You've already got a pretty good list there. You might like John Scalzi.

I'll think of more given time...check out the sci/fi fantasy groups too. They'll have LOADs more recs.

stormhawk | 1184 comments A friend of mine recently recommended Greg Egan to me. I'm only 1/3 of the way through Permutation City at this point, but I'm really enjoying it and looking forward to reading more of his work.

I also recommend dipping through the classic SF authors ... Heinlein, Asimov, etc.

So many books, so little time.
