Colby (colbz) Don't ask me why, but I am very interested in the suicidal mind. My favorite books that deal with this are:
Impulse (Impulse, #1) by Ellen Hopkins
It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Glimpse by Carol Lynch Williams
Whirligig by Paul Fleischman

Please tell me your favorites as well.

Hadrian (hadrian_gr) The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness
Night Falls Fast: Understanding Suicide

All these are nonfiction, and handle the subject very well. They're heart-wrenching in their detail.

Miss Asima (missasima) | 21 comments Im sorry I have nothing to contribute. At least not that I can think of right now. Anyway I just wanted to say I love this topic as well and I'm excited to see the books that get listed. :D

Ellen (elliearcher) The Savage God: A Study of Suicide by A. Alvarez

non-fiction but fascinating I thought & very well-written

Ellen (elliearcher) How I Stayed Alive When My Brain Was Trying to Kill Me: One Person's Guide to Suicide Prevention by Susan Rose Blauner

I loved this book. Non-fiction, and life wins out without any sentimentality.

Veronika (vforveronika) I LOVE 13 REASONS WHY!!!!
for some reason i like books about suicide or suicide attempts as well.
I'm planning on reading this book called Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho. I heard it's pretty good and the main character and I have the same name so I want to know what it's all about. They also made it into a movie as well. It is a little creepy us having the same name though lol.

message 9: by Veronika (new)

Veronika (vforveronika) Oh and definitely check out The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. It's a great book and movie!

I'll come back and post if I can think of any more.

message 10: by Veronika (new)

Veronika (vforveronika) Also try Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford. I haven't read it but it is on my to read list.

Colby (colbz) Thanks, guys! I'll check these out.

Ellen (elliearcher) Jodi Picoult's 19 Minutes is about a school shooter who is also suicide.
History of a Suicide: My Sister's Unfinished Life by Jill Bialosky

Ron Feasel (ronfeasel) | 53 comments What's your opinion on crime fiction

message 17: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) I like crime fiction alright, but it's not my favorite to be honest. Sometimes it depends on the book. If well written, I can get really into any book.

message 18: by Ron (new)

Ron Feasel (ronfeasel) | 53 comments I agree, it takes a good writer to catch one s attention

message 19: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) Yeah, it does, but still I will not put a book down unless it's horrible.

message 20: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) Oh, I haven't had a chance to read these yet, but I've heard of By the Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead by Julie Anne Peters and Crash into Me by Albert Borris

message 21: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) Just got this 'un. The Burn Journals by Brent Runyon
