But Johnson鈥檚 speech wasn鈥檛 a victory lap, as some anticipated. Instead, it was mainly about what government should do next on behalf of blacks. This was merely the 鈥渆nd of the beginning,鈥

“Little difference exists between gay Christian theology and gay secular humanist presuppositions, other than the use of "God-talk" in an attempt to sanctify gay sex.' The gay Christian movement is both in the world and of the world. Homoerotic behavior is ultimately a profession of atheism and a declaration of war on Western society's heterosexual norms inherited from historic Christianity. Homosexual sex is indeed a revolutionary act seeking to overthrow all constraints imposed by traditional Christianity. Christianity is the opposition, from the secular humanist perspective, and this conclusion is legitimate, for homosexual practice is antithetical to everything Scripture and the Christian tradition teach about men and women, who are created by God for each other. The gay Christian movement chooses to obscure the truth and has deluded itself into embracing the fantasy that God blesses homosexual practice.”

“One major problem is the Biblical ignorance of so many ministers. This is understandable among those who do not believe the Scripture, but it is inexcusable among conservative ministers. Too many preachers are not capable of studying for themselves and so are mainly dependent on commentaries. Too many preachers are busy with methods and programs and do not (in fact, cannot) study the Bible accurately. Therefore, unless there is a verse which solves the problem by direct statement, they have neither the interest nor the ability to come to an accurate position based on the entire tenor of Scripture. These ministers, many of whom do not believe in tongues, are not sure enough to speak against the present tongues movement. Lacking enough insight to see that this neutral position is impossible, they leave their people wide open to all kinds of experiences and to unsound spiritual influences. If someone opens himself to the spiritual influences present, no matter what his intentions and how pure his motives. if the spirit is false, he may come under its influence.”

“What we do in the crisis always depends on whether we see the difficulties in the light of God, or God in the shadow of the difficulties.”

“The early church had much more than a collection of social practices upon which they did not reflect carefully. The early church ethics were formed in the context of a Judaism that had thought long and hard about its ethic based on Mosaic law, over against the practices of surrounding cultures. The early church's ethics were a further reflection on how that long history of Jewish ethics had to be rethought in light of Jesus Christ. Rethinking the faith involved an interpretation of authoritative Scripture and a continued use of the Law in ethical matters.”

“In the modern culture, much emphasis has been placed on the "culture of the fiesh" and the eternal and spiritual nature of man has been mininized. Self-indulgence has become the primary value and is protected by our modern society under the pretext of individual "civil rights." Personal gratification and fulfilment in this world has supplanted the spiritual striving for purity and holiness, which is the true source of joy. The love of God has been replaced by love of self. The desire for eternal bliss has been replaced by the desire for worldly bliss. The fear of eternal punishment has been replaced by the fear of worldly discomfort and condemnation. Man has supplanted God as the measure of all things.”
