“ I don't know if mama was right, that we each have a destiny, or if it was Lt Dan, that we are all just floating around, accidental, like on a breeze, but I think... I think... maybe... it's both happening at the same time. -Winston Groom (1943 -), Forrest Gump ...more ” — M. Prefontaine

“ He unbutton his jacket an inside, on his shirt, is all his medals—Purple Heart, Silver Star—must of been ten or twelve of them. “They remind me of somethin,” he said. “I’m not quite sure what—the war, of course, but that’s jus a part of it. I have suffered a loss, Forrest, far greater than my legs. It’s my spirit, my soul, if you will. There is only a blank there now—medals where my soul used to be. ” — Winston Groom

I found this book at a thrift store and had to buy it as Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies. The book isn't quite the same as the movie. He has a few more adventures in this book, Lieutenant Dan, Bubba and Jenny are in the book but some events involving them aren't quite the same as the movie. I liked the book alot . One thing that I didn't like was all the swearing Forrest does in the book...he was not like that in the movie and I preferred that well mannered Forrest. ]]>

A good easy read but I like some of her others much more.

Nov 15 2023: I read this book again. I enjoyed it more this time than before. Laura is unable to go with her new husband on his traditional fishing trip with his friends. She must have surgery and her doctor does not want her traveling long distances. Although Alec is reluctant to go, she convinces him that she will be fine as she will stay with his uncle and wife while she recovers. Laura is enjoying her stay and becoming close to Eva and Gerald and Ivan and even grumpy old May. Then strange things begin to happen; a threatening letter to Silvia a good friend, and Laura's dog Lucy becomes ill. Alec's estranged daughter returns wanting to see him with news of her own and comes across another threatening letter where Laura and Ivan are accused of having an affair. Who is doing this> is it the strange young single mom who lives on the property in the old cottage? Is it the old lady May who always seems so grumpy?
I enjoyed this book alot this time around. ]]>

One of my favorite authors. Rebecca's estranged mother passes away the day after she finds her again. Before she died, Rebecca learned that she had family living on an estate i in Cornwall. Rebecca goes there to meet her grandfather and cousin, She meets up with Joss again who had sold her some furniture for her new flat. It is not a coincidence that he is in Cornwall working for her grandfather refinishing some old furniture. Her grandfather was a famous painter who has a few secrets. Joss also has a few secrets. These secrets all involve Sophia the beautiful model of some of her grandfather's paintings. A great story and a quick read! ]]>
