Favored by the Stars by Helen Scott
"The series continues the installment of book four. Unfortunately, it took me a while to recall these characters, and where the storyline left off. This installment started off a bit disjointed for me, but once I regained my footing it gained traction again. The drama continues as Senara works to learn who she is, and the powers that she holds. Along with her bonded, Thorn, it is going to be a tough road ahead with the Void Dragon Empress awakening and threatening everything.
The pacing of this story ebbs and flows. When it was engaging I ate up the pages. When the characters were behaving like petulant children or things started to drag it became harder to push through. I was able to skim some spots and not miss out on much.
The second half of the story is more interesting than the first as things really begin to heat up. Secrets are coming to light, the tension is rising, along with the danger. The author focuses more on the storyline this book, and so there is less steamy time. I almost thought we weren't going to get any at all. LOL!
We get another tense cliffhanger with this book's close. Definitely got a raised eyebrow in how the final chapters play out, but I'll be looking forward to the conclusion of this series. "

SOS Hotel by Adam Vex
"I was provided an e-copy of the book by the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

✅ Characters
✅ New setting
✅ Pace
✅ Action and magic
✅ Plot
✅ Romance and more smut
✅ Tom Collins saves the day, again
✅ Frogs (iykyk)
❗️❗️Trigger warnings: mentions of drugs, murders, and some blood

4 or 4.5 stars, I am still hesitating...

This is the end, for real this time.

Adam, Victor, and Zee are still on “vacation”, and their decision to help a poor troll go back to Florida quickly turns against them when the troll mafia gets involved. Now, Adam, Zee, and Victor need to deal with this situation on top of finding a way to get rid of Adam’s brother and also clear their name because their faces are plastered on the news as murderers on the loose.

Everything is wrapped up nicely, and a little absurdly too, at times. There are some connections to the events that happened in the 8th and 9th books, and it was nice to see that there was a kind of arc-plot in those three books that went beyond simply running away from Adam’s brother until they couldn’t anymore.

I feel that if you’ve made it this far, you know what to expect from our hectic trio, and you will not be disappointed with this finale. Zee and Adam finally get to see frogs, and yes, they are as creepy as they thought they were. They also learn that alligators are not cuddly and fluffy, and that maybe they should listen to Victor more often.

As always, the pace is fast and the plot is engaging. Our favorite trio is off to another over-the-top and slightly crazy adventure that could only ever happen to them. While the plot is quite straightforward in this book, there are still some twists and betrayals, and overall, it is easy to get hooked and finish this book in one or two sittings.

The romance takes a bigger place in this book than in the previous ones. With the big confrontation between Adam and his brother quickly approaching, Adam fears that he might not be the one to walk out of it alive, and that every minute he has with Zee and Victor needs to be savoured and cherished, because they might be his last. There is also more smut between the three of them, and I enjoyed seeing them not only be more at ease together but also be more open about their feelings and their intensity.

A part of me is sad to bid them farewell, but I also think it is time. We followed Adam, Zee, and Victor for 10 books now, and while I always enjoy their shenanigans, I also think that they deserve some peace and rest at their Hotel, and that dragging this on for longer could mean less quality in the plot, which we do not want. I really had a great time reading this silly series, and I will reread it in the future for sure. The fact that the books are short also makes it so easy to get sucked into the SOS Hotel vortex and get addicted to its craziness.

I did have high hopes that the FMC will demand retribution, and to an extent she did in regard to her coven tormentors. However, the MMCs did not grovel enough. They simply stated they love her, she is theirs and that is it. There as a short period when she would not talk to them, but to me that was a very mild way of showing how she felt, not to mention that the next thing that happens she throws herself off n their arms.
I am disappointed as after all the hurt, betrayal and constant pain, I did want proper amendments to be made. Unfortunately, the male protagonists did not deliver here at all.
