"It took me a few false starts to get into this book (not the books fault, I had a weird few days) but once I was in, I was hooked. The world building is so well done; I could visualise every detail easily. You can tell that LB has a lot of love for the location. I hadn’t read anything set in the Bayou before but I can’t wait to explore this world in the rest of the series.

The story set up was engaging, the characters are interesting and the chemistry went from a slow simmer to damn that’s hot at a good pace. Well balanced between story and spice with sprinklings of kink exploration thrown in. I liked seeing characters who had a desire for bdsm elements but were still learning and exploring their likes/dislikes; it was a nice break from the seasoned players I usually read about.

As well as the main characters, there were plenty of side characters who interested me. Just enough information dropped about them to have me intrigued about their histories, motivations and future roles.

Holy cliffhanger Batman! You can’t leave me hanging like that. Alright I’ll start the next book, who needs sleep anyway?!"

I had to struggle through the first 25 pages or so but I am sooo glad that I did. I love MC books but this is unlike most I have read. Edgy. But not between the H and h. The storyline is tense. Excellent. Can’t wait to read the next installment. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5"
