The Voice We Find by Nicole Deese
"This book is, by far, my favorite in the Fog Harbor Romance series! I have loved all of them, but this one is very special. As a reader, one thing I look for in my books is the ability to discuss challenging topics that prompt me to think. Nicole Deese has mastered the ability to believably depict relationship dynamics amidst trauma and grief, all packaged in a rom-com full of banter and wit. To top it off, she adds the neat bow of major faith themes and arcs in the story. I truly loved this story.

I honestly binge-read this book, and when I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about it. August and Sophie’s stories were so powerful in their own ways. They both were stuffing their pain down but were able to help each other open up and heal. As someone who has a past in the mental health field, I saw how people’s pain always finds its way to the surface, and it isn’t always pleasant. I also appreciated the way the author brought God’s hope and redemption into the story. He can heal us better than many other things we try to use to heal ourselves, and I believe this was a significant theme in the book.

Another aspect of this book that I appreciated was the development of the side characters. Dana, Gabby, Tyler, Natalie, and we can’t forget our favorite guy, Chip, were all significant parts of this story. They all had their part in August and Sophie’s relationship, and watching the healing, growth, and side romances was very amusing and satisfying to watch. Gabby’s faith was truly inspiring, and the way she cared for those around her was equally inspiring. The deaf community’s representation had me wanting to remember what little ASL I learned in my college course. Natalie also surprised me, and I really enjoyed the conclusion of her story as well. I do wish we could get Chip and Allie’s story; there have been hints throughout the whole series, and I believe they would make a perfect book couple!

I recommend this book if you enjoy workplace romance, single guardian, deaf representation, major faith themes, and a satisfying conclusion to a trilogy. # Augie forever!

The Voice We Find by Nicole Deese
"This was my first read by this author and I loved it so much! I loved her writing style, it just flowed so smoothly. Sophie and August were such great characters. I loved that they each had flaws that they had to work on and things that happened in their past that affected them. August feels pressure with being guardian over his teen sister, Gabby, who is going deaf. He wants to help her get better but she seems to be accepting of her condition and is moving on with life and learning American Sign language. Sophie has some troubles with her brother as well. Sophie and August getting together was so beautiful. I loved how the author showed a fight between them and how realistic that was. This book tackles some tougher topics but is done so well. There was a lot of great Christian content through out the book as well. Overall, I just thought this was a fantastic read and I definitely recommend!

The Voice We Find by Nicole Deese
"“August kisses me the way I imagine he’d compose an original song. Like he’s searching for each right note in a melody only he can hear.â€

August and Sophie have such an intriguing, fascinating, and healing story and I’m team #augie all the way. There is so much to unpack in this breathtaking story full of hope and recovery, acceptance of the past and future, and all the complexities regarding relationships and love in its many facets. Nicole Deese is an amazing storyteller and portrays the most beautiful voices.

I was delighted to discover that August has perfect pitch and that Sophie is a former Broadway star. The way they worked together on audiobook narration had me wanting to actually listen to them, but it was their ability to connect through trauma that really solidified my love for them. The pieces of them that engaged with family and with religion anchored their characters to me and to the plot, and allowed for the heavier topics to serve as a bridge to growth and resolution. The romance was believable and the events that propelled them towards their wondrous ending were incredible. Natalie and Gabby were favorite side characters whose stories were woven in so well with our main characters–and I loved the deaf representation.

Although this is a poignant and sweet romance, full of forced proximity and caring for someone, there is so much more depth to the story than I first realized, and it’s even sprinkled with a dash of mystery that made this glittering book a dear favorite.

Content: talk of off-page death, hearing loss, trauma; mild romance; moderate religion

The Voice We Find by Nicole Deese
"'ll start off by saying that The Voice We Find is an emotional rollercoaster ride! We meet Sophie as she's heading back to her family home in defeat after a mishap on a Broadway stage. Her defeat and discouragement are palpable. When she arrives "home", which is also part of the family's winery property, we get a glimpse at how unhealthy that situation is. There's also something suspicious going on with how Sophie reacts to being there.

Then, there's August, who owns a music production studio. He has guardianship of his adopted little sister, Gabby, who play a great role in the story. His best friend, Chip, convinces him to produce audiobooks for his publishing house. What a great way for Sophie and August to meet.

Sophie and August have time to get to know each other while Gabby is at camp, and when she comes home, she and Sophie hit it off. Gabby and August lost their parents in a tragedy and they both are handling their grief differently. Gabby is leaning into her faith and August has closed himself off. One of the facets to the accident that they disagree about is Gabby's hearing loss. Gabby wants to make the most of it, but August has other ideas.

The time Sophie and August spend together creating an audiobook helps draw them together. It's a very sweet progression and it certainly gave me heart eyes! Again, as August keeps himself closed off from his faith, Sophie is drawn to it thanks to Gabby and Portia, the owner of a rundown theater & ASL interpreter.

It was so beautiful watching God work throughout this story. You can feel Him drawing Sophie and August to Himself. He gave them numerous opportunities to hear Truth. It was a good reminder that we don't all respond the same way to the Gospel. While August pushed back against it, he also had to work through guilt he was carrying. It was just a reminder of how patient the Lord is with each one of us.

There was also a mystery lying under the surface of the winery. Not only was Sophie's family a piece of work, there was something nefarious going on. It was easy to get that ick feeling right along with Sophie feeling it. I was glad she spent more time away than there.

Each of the stories in this series are very different. They each stand on their own and are incredibly powerful. I will say the first one made me cry and the last one brought tears to my eyes. This one had me wanting to throw hands when it came to Sophie's father & brother. Her mother I just wanted to shake. I'm telling you, lost of emotions.

*I received the book for review. This is my personal opinion."
