really liked it
I loved this book! Even though I am more of a fantasy reader, and don't read much historical fiction, Susan Campbell Bartoletti got me hooked in a snap! When Helmuth was trying to stand up for himself, the suspense was very high, keeping me hooked and glued to the book. Susan Campbell Bartoletti made it very clear that Helmuth was no ordinary boy, which I loved adding a sense of curiosity as to what would come after on each page. Wow, the ending ...more

it was amazing
This book was amazing! I loved the build-up as you learned from each of the characters' perspectives and the anticipation for what would happen next. The book was so difficult to put down! I loved how the characters contrasted greatly, and were stuck together despite their differences. If you enjoyed reading Maze Runner or Gone, you would probably enjoy reading this book due to the major anticipation throughout the book and the dystopian scenario ...more
