really liked it
This short shots series is really a great idea. It is basically a book-length short story or a short story with the heft of a novel. It is easy to see Jassy Mackenzie's influence and it is because of her great thriller-writing skill that I picked this one up. I'd like to ask her why she didn't write another, and if I were to guess...but I shouldn't speculate. I have been wrong before.

Gah, I needed this. I laughed for quite two days as I read of the aged marchioness hoping—only hoping, not doing anything—to save her huge estate consisting mainly now of an enormous castle with battlements on top. Her sons came up with the idea to rent out the [ruined] portion of the castle, updated and repaired by funds acquired by selling off valuable paintings and by opening the grand place to the locals and tourists.
