The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger

Barnabas’s first review of the year

it was amazing
Kruegers storytelling style/genre is hard to describe. He writes mysteries, adventure stories, coming of age stories, family drama, and nostalgic place-centered tales all wrapped into one. This one leans more mystery than his previous two stand-alone novels but doesn’t suffer in the slightest for it. It is gripping, heart warming, moving, and beautifully crafted.

Letters to a Diminished Church by Dorothy L. Sayers

Barnabas’s last review of the year

it was amazing
Simply brilliant. I’ve known of Dorothy Sayers for a long time simply because she ran in the same circles as C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and was influenced greatly by G.K. Chesterton, all of whom I adore. However, I did not know her on her own writing merits. And meritorious she is. In reading Letters to a Diminished Church I have been properly gobsmacked by Sayers’ incisive, sharp, eloquent prose and the depth and clarity of her thinking. Even ...more
