Do you have a preferred method for writing? What I mean is, a block of time in the day? A specific space? Tools (pen laptop, etc). And do you edit on the fly or at intervals? Fascinated by the creative process.

Paula Hawkins I write on a laptop, in my office at home. I write best in the morning, by mid-afternoon I鈥檝e usually run out of steam. After around 3pm I鈥檓 usually r鈥辞谤别I write on a laptop, in my office at home. I write best in the morning, by mid-afternoon I鈥檝e usually run out of steam. After around 3pm I鈥檓 usually reading, researching, answering emails 鈥� that sort of thing. I carry a notebook to write down ideas, though I find the best ideas and fixes always come to me in the bath at the time when it鈥檚 least convenient to note them down.(less)

Other times I鈥辞谤别It鈥檚 an odd thing, naming a character. Sometimes they come to you immediately and you know: yes, that person is Danielle, Nel for short. Other times I鈥檒l change a character鈥檚 name during the writing, because as a character develops their names no longer fits. (less)
