I'm the author of WOOL, a top 5 science fiction book on Amazon. I also wrote the Molly Fyde saga, a tale of a teenager from the 25th century who is repeatedly told that girls can't do certain things -- and then does them anyway.

A theme in my books is the celebration of overcoming odds and of not allowing the cruelty of the universe to change who you are in the process. Most of them are classified as science fiction, since they often take place in the future, but if you love great stories and memorable characters, you'll dig what you find here. I promise.

As a kid, I couldn't get enough of the intro to that show, which revealed an entire world underground. As for sf literature, the Foundation series introduced psychology as a driving force behind the actions of people for generation after generation, and that was a huge influence. The writing style of Herbert and Asimov rubbed off on me as well. Just not enough, I'm afraid!(less)

There is a lot of luck involved in breaking out big-time. But you increase your chances by writing captivating stories and packaging them professionally. And the best advice is this: Don't stress about your sales. Just keep writing. Especially if you can write for the love of it.(less)

“Killing a man should be harder than waving a length of pipe in their direction. It should take long enough for one's conscience to get in the way.”
Hugh Howey, The Unraveling

“That's the problem with the truth," Darcy said. "Liars and honest men both claim to have it.”
Hugh Howey, Dust

“He鈥檇 only ever seen a gun once, a smaller one on the hip of that old deputy, a gun he鈥檇 always figured was more for show. He stuffed a fistful of deadly rounds in his pocket, thinking how each one could end an individual life, and understanding why such things were forbidden. Killing a man should be harder than waving a length of pipe in their direction. It should take long enough for one鈥檚 conscience to get in the way.”

Paul Crehan Hi, Hugh,

Thank you for adding me as a friend!

Hilary "Fox" Thank you for the add! Just started Wool today, and I'm quite enjoying the style. Feels like a mix of Lost and Battlestar Galactica, oddly enough. :)

Arah-Leah I think I might be the last person left who is still awaiting the trade release of Dust here in canada ;)

Sterling Thank you for the add! I was wondering (read: frantically hoping) if Wool had been picked up for a TV series or movie yet?

message 8: by Owen

Owen O'Neill Thanks for accepting my friend request! You are indeed an inspiration to us new fiction authors. If you hear that a lot, it is merely because it's true. We never thought we'd make a dime off our fiction, but thanks to your example, we forged ahead and have now made more than a few.

Best regards and best of fortune to you!
