What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Kathleen Irene Paterka I love writing about interpersonal relationships and the struggles of everyday people and their lives (ex: Patty and her overweight hero, Sam, in Fatty Patty). Dieting and dating were problems for me while I was growing up. By the time I graduated from high school, I weighed 300 lbs. I lost the excess weight long ago, and I knew that someday I would write a book about what it felt like to live fat in a world that worships thin. Fatty Patty (May 2012) is that book. Even today, I still receive emails from readers who've read Patty's story and tell me how much it helped them with their overweight or food issues. The best thing about being a writer? Knowing that I've helped make a difference in someone's life.
