Read for a class in Philosophy of Cognitive Science. While it's a serviceable introduction to the philosophical aspects of Cognitive Science, Cain doesn't seem to know if he's writing a textbook or a paper, and so offers his own opinion a little too much for it to be an impartial coverage of the subject. Instead I recommend Bermúdez' "Cognitive Science: An Introduction to the Science of the Mind", which actually does a great job of introducing the philosophy of cognitive science alongside more empirical results.
